Radiohead – Life in a Glasshouse Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is pretty cool. It reminds me of the 10 months I spent living in rural China (Minus the friend part)

Yoko Kanno – Lithium Flower Lyrics 18 years ago
Definitely one of the better anime shows going on out there and definitely one of the better characters too. If you've seen the movie or series it's pretty obvious what it's about. Catchy song.

Tool – Intension Lyrics 19 years ago
Spark becomes a flame.
Flame becomes a fire.
Light the way or warm this.
Home we occupy

The spark could be an idea. The idea turns into something, then gets a little out of control.

Thrown this day a stranger
Swore to crush his bones....
Forge a blade to slay the stranger

Getting back to the idea of free will, we have never ending conflict. Before the stanger this was not so. The stranger in a sense challenges our free will.

this isn't so much about civilisation as it is an idividual. Stripping down the world to it's essntial animalistic nature. The idea of free will is about not being ruled purely by instincts, though they remain the guiding force.

Born an innocent, return to earth (the atom mix if you want) when we die, pure.

but then again I've got a long track record of being wrong

Björk – Hyperballad Lyrics 19 years ago
An awesome song about the frustrations of life.

We all have things that get under our skin. But sharing these concerns isn't always fruitful, no matter how close to someone we may be. We need to vent it, in some way, shape or form none the less.

and what better way then to destroy inanimate objects.

Stabbing Westward – The Thing I Hate Lyrics 20 years ago
Hey Duke introduced me to Stabbing Westward too. It's kind of ironic that this song was used in that game though.

Somebody has decided to break the cycle. Hate breeds hate breeds hate. Same idea as Tool's Prison Sex but with a different outcome.

Radiohead – Killer Cars Lyrics 20 years ago
When you break it down modern life is incredible complex and there are a million and one things that could bring on our demise. Life is quite fragile. Wrapped up in the back of the trunk is safer but a miserable way to live. Fear of sudden death or the sudden death of a loved one can consume if you don't feel resolved.

The only kick in life is pumping this steel

Knowing death can occur, that we are fragile makes one more appreciative of life.

The Beatles – Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) Lyrics 20 years ago
I think he assumed that since he was being invited to her place it was a sure thing. There was no chair because she was content on her own. She liked him but didn't want to sleep with him. He was cool with that so he stayed in another room. He had no reason to leave as soon as he woke so he just stayed awhile reflecting on what happened the night before.

I don't know if that's what he meant but that's what it means to me.

Tool – Schism Lyrics 20 years ago
I love tool songs. You can rack your brains looking into one meaning, become content that you've solved the puzzle, and than see that other meaning fits, and then another. So now I've moved on to working out the common themes of all the suggestion.

My conclusion for this song is that it is about Truth and how it is percieved in different ways. Over time the interpetations cause a rift, a schism. Through arguing we come to understand each other better. Without it we drift apart.

Tool – Prison Sex Lyrics 20 years ago
I seem to think that the song is about searching for reasons as to why behaviours ( - and + ) are perpetuated.

"And only this one holy medium brings me piece of mind". Some one on the first page suggested that this is about the bible. I scanned all the pages but no one else said much about it. The holy medium is the act of sex. In this instance its been twisted into something perverted.

the continuous cycle of sexual abuse is the literally meaning, the deeper meaning is in how behaviour is carried on through the generations. The full circle is when the action is only understood by being at the other side of it. hence the cycle is continued

Tool – Hooker with a Penis Lyrics 20 years ago
Selling out or buying in? The man is supposedly the guy calling the shots. MJK is saying that he is the one calling the shots and anyone who wants to stand up can do the same. The hooker part is because he is playing "the game", the penis part is because he is firmly in control of it.

Clay Aiken – Invisible Lyrics 20 years ago
I think it's pretty pathetic. Do something or forget about it and move on. I mean watching someone in their room and they don't know your there? Self pity is the delcine of our civiliation.

Radiohead – Banana Co. Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with the South American banana trade idea. Though I think it can be extended beyond that. Banana co. may not be around anymore but Nike and the likes still are.

Oh she said "No go"
She said she'd like to
She's seen you
But no, no go
She knows if you die then we all do

Hmmm, the company may be exploting people but if it doesn't exist nor does the livlihood of both employees and comsumers. Bad pay and conditions is better than no pay.
She says no go.
A sympathiser to an extend but if the company dies so do the lives of the workers. One person vs many.

And everything's underground
We've gotta dig it up somehow
Yeah yeah
Everything's burning down
We gotta put it out somehow
Yeah yeah

The situation is not widely understood, consumers are blissfully unaware. It's not sustainable but no solutions are being sought or presented.

my 2 pesos.

A Perfect Circle – The Hollow Lyrics 20 years ago
I think the song is about searching in vain for a soulmate. Unable to find the one that will perminately fill the hollow, ie make him complete, he justs sleeps around so he doesn't have to think about being alone.

Bob Dylan – All Along the Watchtower Lyrics 20 years ago
Both the joker and thief are prime examples of the limitations one faces when you are cast outside or leave the social norm. As an outsider you can look upon the whole objectively (well more objectively than an insider). I'm not entirely convinced that the riders are these two. I get more of an impression that there within the walls looking around them. I don't think that the wildcats are about an oncoming danger, more about what awaits for those who leave the safety of the walls (society). The references to classes are interesting. Everyone seems to have accepted their place:None of them along the line know what any of it is worth (social spectrum) could be about how fragile the system actually is and how close to chaos we always live.

anyway to sum up my interpetation its about those that do and those that don't accept their place and that there are far more that do then don't (as it stands). That's my 1.7 cents (damn inflation erroding the value of everything).
