| of Montreal – Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse Lyrics

I don't know why no one's posting anything about this song, it's really great. What I've gotten from it is that it's about Kevin's constant mood swings, being as he was on the verge of a breakdown while the band lived in Oslo, Norway (as explained in the first line of A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger) This strikes me as him not wanting to be sad or upset, but not being able to help it. He had his friends and his family there to help him get through it, including Nina Twin as said in the song, and felt the need to thank them all for everything they did for him.
What a song .. I love the first few lines.

I'm a die-hard Thursday fan. Always have been, always will be, and for the life of me I cannot bring myself to like a single song better than this. I'm the first one to scream for them to play it at their shows, and I listen to it multiple times a day. It's not only my favorite Thursday song, it's my favorite song period. From the second it starts you're continually suprised by Geoff's seemingly never-ending supply of genius lyrics. |

I love this version 10000x better than telegraph, the chorus is much more meaningful, and I don't dig the spelling shit out. "doesn't matter what you say, doesn't matter what you think you need, you know our love's not unconditional" is an incredibly powerful verse and I'm really upset that they took it out. Whatever, I fell in love with the demos anyway, there's no changing my mind. |

I love this song. The words are beautifully put together. I can't believe no one's commented about it yet. Does anyone know exactly what this is about? |

Yea I definitely thought about more of a husband-wife abuse situation more than a child-abuse situation only because of "in the room that we used to share" . This song gives me chills |

Absolutely beautiful intro. It's so meaningful. Get's such a great point across in so few words. Strangely, one of my favorites. |

It's almost like this song was written specifically for live performances. The first time I ever saw them they played it and the pause before "write these words back down inside .. " is incredible. The whole crowd just goes insane and I loved every second of it. It's very obvious what this song is about, I'm not going to bore you all. |

I absolutely hated this song them I first heard it. The lyrics are bland and a huge dissapointment. No, Geoff certainly has not lost his writing ability considering the other demo's are typical Thursday material. And yes, it's wilt, not "welt" .. could someone please explain to me how a violet could "welt" ? It's definitely not their best, or even a GOOD song for that matter, but you're fools if you try to say there weren't songs on WATT Waiting and FC that not many people really like. It probably was a bad decision on their part to make this song the first track on A City By The Light Divided and release it before any of the other songs, because I'm sure they know it's not their best. I don't care if they get Fall Out Boy on us, they're still my favorite band and will always be; they've impressed me enough already that they can do no wrong, now. |

Thursday is actually glad that the demos leaked, Geoff said something about it on the website and how he thinks it's good that people like them enough to find these and spread them. This song is definitely not my favorite demo, and like I'm sure someone's already posted and I just didn't bother to read, this is called "at this velocity" and is about a plane crashing.

By far my absolute favorite underOATH song. It never gets old. Any ideas on what it's about? My guess would be a failing relatinoship that he's thought about and simply will not work. |
