Well I guess it sounds more like his battle with drug addiction and alcoholism... he has a lot to learn about those things, it caused him to fall in front of his friends, and since it probably runs in his family, it's where he comes from. Addiction, ya know? Whatever. |

| Acid Bath – The Mortician's Flame Lyrics

EerieOompaLoompa... I didn't realize some acid bath fans were such dicks. I mean, seriously, there aren't many people who have any great appreciation for this band. those that do... well, it'd be nice if you had some respect for their personal opinions of the songs. Especially since I think the abortion theory makes a lot of sense.
Acid Bath may not be "pro-life", but that's really just a bullshit title people give themselves anyway. You don't have to agree or disagree with abortion to accept the fact that it is indeed a fairly dark and disturbing situation to find yourself in. I mean, playing god by deciding whether another life will continue on or not even before it fully develops is a strange thing. Acid Bath touches on many different ideas on the subject of death that others rarely consider, and I think that's what makes them so... well... poetic. In an admittedly disturbing way. I dunno... thought I'd share with the class. |

I dunno, to me, when I first heard the song, I used to think it was about slowly realizing at the end of your life that there is no god or hope or whatever you may believe. But now, after I've listened to it more and more, and read the lyrics, it seems to be the need to believe in something after death once death is facing you as a reality. And in death, you can choose to believe that you have no hope, or realize that there's a greater sense of existence beyond that on Earth. Not exactly in the heaven idea, but a metaphysical connection to the universe. |

| Slipknot – The Shape Lyrics

I find this song talks about a lot of Corey's life (or anybody else's life for that matter). Sometimes your past or your present is "too tragic" to stay with what you have, so you continually break away from the pain. You "seperate" from "the shape". The shape to me is a visual representation of Corey's life, and how he continues to seperate himself from his life and his surroundings. Look at it as somebody shutting down from the world, or running away. Everytime this happens, though, he becomes more and more lost, until the shape (his life) is simply "broken and thrown away". Pretty powerful, especially at the last part of the song. |
