| Dead Poetic – Lioness Lyrics | 19 years ago |

it's a song about the perversion of sex. not only how it became a god to us, but how it's totally taken over, stalking us and dragging us down. "The sex is the lioness, queen of the temple. I look right in her eyes, then down to her level." basically how it's been degraded to something wicked and horrible. "The sex is the liar" describes how it pretends to be something it's not and what it wasn't intended to be. |

| Dead Poetic – Narcotic Lyrics | 19 years ago |

my opinion is that this song is about a living person. someone who "sold her/his soul" for the things the world can buy. I think it's more of a showing that person that what he or she spent all their time seeking was something empty, something that will not make them truly happy. "you can't hide your insecurities with a pretty face"...a pretty face doesn't remove the things that are hard for us. It's about a person who lives in this whole "perfect" society that gives nothing back "screaming for comfort from a world devoid of compassion". The whole narcotic aspect is more about finding oblivion from the pain and the ever increasing demands of the other people. |

| Dead Poetic – Self-Destruct and Die Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i think this song speaks about someone who is a people pleaser. Someone who want to make it right for everyone else. "I cannot disappoint them" "I'm addicted to being something they will look up to" but he sees that it's breaking him and that he can't keep it up. and he's asking the other person whom he tries to please to release him, to make him stop, because he cannot do it on his own. "And I'll continue until you end it" "Save me from my phobia of failing you again I'll self-destruct and die, from the strain of pleasing the masses" Great song! Dead poetic are brilliant! |

| Kj-52 – Dear Slim Pt. 2 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think that KJ has made a great song. i know people may see it as an attack on Eminem (which, btw, it isn't). KJ isn't promoting any religion, he is concerned about the influence Eminem has with kids and he is just trying to make him aware of that. I like quite a few of Eminems songs, because he is honest and says how he feels about stuff. so what's the difference here? KJ is also being honest and just saying how he feels. And why should someone not be allowed to sing about their faith in any kind of song??? | |
| Anberlin – Paperthin Hymn Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
this is how i understand the song: "When your only friends are hotel rooms Hands are distant lullabies If I could turn around I would tonight" > he is lonely and alone in hotel rooms all the time, because he's on tour and he cannot spend alot of time with his family/friends. he wants to go home more, but being on tour is his job and he needs to do that. "These roads never seemed so long Since your paperheart stopped beating leaving me suddenly alone Will daybreak ever come?" >now someone dear to him has died and he's feeling like he can never get home, like there isn't really a home to go back to anymore. the paperheart refers to the heart of the person who died, and "paper" could mean that this was an old person, as paper is often used to signify something thin and easily torn. "Who's gonna call on sunday morning? Who's gonna drive you home? I just want one more chance To put my arms in fragile hands" > now that the other person is dead, he knows he will miss his/her support, the calls on sunday morning and he's wondering who will take care of him now. he wishes for another chance to be with the other person, to hug him/her and tell him/her he loves him/her. I thought you said forever Over and over The sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion These thoughts run through my head Over and over Complaints of violins become my only friends > he thought the other person would always be there and now he realises that things changed, that death breaks up this "forever". the violin is often seen as one of the most expressive instruments and to be almost like the human voice. thus the complaints of violins are the intense feelings and maybe regrets that now keep him company and which torture him in a way. August evenings Bring solemn warnings To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight You never know what temporal days may bring So laugh, love, live free and sing When life is in dischord Praise ye the lord > the loved one who died, probably died in August, thus he talks about August evenings, and how they now remind him to keep telling the people he loves that he loves them while they're still alive. he encourages others to live fully and to turn to the lord and praise him, even when life is tough. i think this is one of the most awesome songs (also the first one i heard from this album), and it just pulls you in and you can't help feeling the anguish and just being a part of the song. i think that's such an amazing talent to have, to be able to do that through music. anberlin is an inredible band! i LOVE their songs! |

| i think it's an awesome song...somehow challenging to christians to actually change things. will our friends ask us why things have changed? will we not do some of the wrong things because we are christians? i think it's a cool challenge...it challenges me. | |

awesome song! i think the two lines "How could I ever think to be more than the one who created me" have impacted me most. they just let me know everytime i hear them how small i am compared to god. but in a way it's also comforting and humbling. |
