I love this song - I think it's quite sad though. I think it's about the destructive nature of love 'it makes a fiery ring', 'I know love as a caging being Just a killer, come to call from some awful dream'. He feels trapped by it, referring to it as cage or ring, which moulds him into something that he isn't - 'I saw love disfigure me, Into something I am not recognising', 'I could kill you with my bear hands if I was free'. He then goes on to describe being in love as making a person weak - 'fading being Just as fickle as a feather in a string', 'You will not see me fall, or see me struggle to stand To be acknowledged by some touch from his gnarled hand ','I lay my face to the soil, and all my teeth to the sand'. However I think he finds his way out of this love and finds that he is stronger outside of it - hence the last line of the song, 'And we race out on the desert plains all night See honey, I am not some broken thing I do not lay here in the dark waiting for thee No my heart is gold and my feet are light And I am racing out on the desert plains all night' - he can run with or without him. Anyway this is what I think it's about - and it's absolutely stunning. |

I think it's about, like many people have said, two people who have met and really like each other and they are just messing about doing the random things that newly formed couples do. Radar detector I think is a metaphor for someone whose perhaps just walked into a person's life just at the right time...he's the radar (driving around) and she has detected him. I honestly cannot believe that nobody has left a comment yet...I'm in complete and utter shock. This song is probably one of the best songs of 2009 along with Walking on a dream by Empires of the sun and Sleepyhead by Passion Pit. I think the meaning of this song is pretty self-explanatory; we all come from the same thing (we are all embers from the same fire.) the video also emphasises this point by showing a time line from the beginning of man 'till today. I reckon the 'through of the devilish things we do' part of the song is refering to the evil that man has created and the 'petty decisions we think will make a difference' part of the song refers to the fact that man wants to make a lasting change but really we, as well as our decisions, are so tiny that we blow away like dust just like 'embers'. Our ideaa don't make a difference because it has already happened before hence the repetitiveness of the song. Another Great Just Jack track. PS i think the lyrics are slightly wrong: I think it's 'The fact and the figures they overwhelm and stifle everything...' instead of 'The overwhelming stifling' as this doesn't make much sense. |

As I'm commenting on here I'm actually listen to the song on my MP3. Along with many of the commenters on here I feel that the song not actually having a proper name allows the listeners to actually come with their own meanings: Is wierd because I think that I'm the only one on here who associates this song with death or losing someone you love (perhaps because of a break up) - I can think that every Sigur Ros song that I've ever heard can be linked to love - I agree with Lizzybelle about what can be heard when you listen to the song: "You sat along the fire...you're saw the light, you're saw... 'You suffered so long' - the woman now knows that the 'man' has suffered so long by being in a relationship he knows wouldn't work but was only in this relationship in order not to break the woman's heart. 'You sigh so long' - the man put up with the woman for so long. - You shine no more...you're not here... You hear no more, you're not here.. You sigh no more...and you're not here" - She's now talking in the present tense, the man has now left this relationship; 'you shine no more you're not here', and the woman feels alone and unable to come to terms that she may have known that the relationship wasn't meant to work. Love this song but I think it's being olayed too many times and that's the problem; it can get a bit annoying after a while. The first verse is really confusing but I think she is talking about how she felt before she met this man that she loves. She had been 'closed up from love', given up on love because she was always got hurt. But then after a period of time she got 'frozen', she hadn't been in love for such a long time that she didn't know what it felt like anymore. so when this man came along she fell in love with him instantly, byb unfreezing her heart. But everyone else thinks that hw is a bad influence on her therefore, they shouldn't be together so that she doesn't get heartbroken 'the goal is to keep me from falling'. She tries 'hard not to hear but they talk so loud', But when she eventually gives in and listens to these people, she knows that they are telling the truth but she loves him so much 'But nothing’s greater than the rush that comes with your embrace and in this world of loneliness I see your face', by 'closing' her 'vein' trying to stop loving him, staying away from etc. they don't realise is that her 'heart' has become 'crippled', it is being destroyed inside. But then he comes and cuts her 'open' everytime, finds a way for her to love him, go to him etc. Therefore she keeps 'bleeding love', a metaphor. she eventually gives in and loves him again although people have been talling her that she shouldn't but she's in love with him so she doesn't 'care what they say'. In the final verse she says: And it’s draining all of me Oh they find it hard to believe I’ll be wearing these scars For everyone to see 'Draining all of me' is another metaphor as she is 'bleeding love', is becoming more confused and stressed out as she is sort of torn between the people who don't want to see her get hurt and the man whom she loves so much, but knows that he is a bad influence on her. But decides to follow her heart and carry on 'wearing these scars' that she gets when he lets her down so she has to close her 'vein' and then when he.cuts her 'open' again and keeps 'bleeding love' because she loves him so much. I know it's a long analysis but it's a great meaningful song |

I absolutley love this song. It's sort of a sad but meaningful song but at the same time it has a sort of upbeat tune if you know what I mean. I agree that the song is about unrequited love. It's about a girl who knows that this man loves her but she strings him along knowing deep down that she doesn't have any feelings for him at all. So when she tries to break up with him she uses the typical excuse 'it's not about you, it's not about you, it's me'. He tries to make himself feel better throughout the song by trying to convince himself that she was a difficult person to love, hence, 'I guess we've got nothing to say'/'I don't know how to love you more' but realises at the end that he cannot live with out her 'oh don't you leave me here alone'. |

I absolutely adore this song. The tune really compliments the song well and it's such a feel good tune. It's basically about man who loves his girlfriend so much it makes him act a little strange and he doesn't know he is doing it. I think the line 'please forgive me if i act a little strange for I know not what I do' means: I love you so much that you love and everything you do makes me do such strange things and I have no idea that I'm doing it. So 'please for me'. And then in the song he says the usual things she does that makes him act abnormal such as: 'All my words are falling short And there's so much I want to say' - He is so in love with her that he cannot finish of a sentence. 'Like a stone I fall into your eyes Deep into some mystery' - When he is with her he gets lost inside her as though he is the stone and she is the ocean/sea/river.
