I remember hearing somewhere that this song is not about Elton John but it was inspired by one of Bernie Taupin's girlfriends. As Taupin writes the lyrics, he wrote it about his own girlfriend and Elton sung it! |

I think this song is beautifully written - its story told by a friend of someone who has been hurt/betrayed by their partner 'You hurt him real bad, in his moments of silence'...the guy/girl thinks its their own fault but in the eyes of his friend - it was the partners who was wrong 'When all of your pain is because you were wrong'. Everyone can relate to this song I think, Everyones been hurt or knows someone who has been. Definately recommend this song!! |
