David Byrne – U.B. Jesus Lyrics 15 years ago
Definitely "...large on hell"

I think he's crediting Jesus, but attempting to give Christians a something which most of them don't don't have- a belief in the divinity within themselves. And a responsibility to shine within themselves as Jesus did, as he was also a man. Also to toss out the books and rules and religions and LIVE life ("put your hand into the fire") without being scared to sin or "burn" yourself. What good is navigating life with a map?

David Byrne – A Self-Made Man Lyrics 15 years ago

Thank you, David Byrne, for your courage. Man, do I feel this song right at this point in my life. ...lost and now am found. Byrne has a gift for revealing the truths we hide within ourselves. The truths so simple and obvious that we must be either brainwashed or in denial to miss on our own. I assume it comes down to the honest approach in his writing. It is an added gift that his words swim so beautifully and naturally through the brilliant waves and textures of his music. The man is a beacon for artists or anyone seeking to own their lives and nurture their talents.

And I can't fathom why no one else has commented to date. I must get to enjoy the good music by myself.

Primus – Puddin' Taine Lyrics 19 years ago
I. Pass the pen there Billy Bob,
I'll write us up a song
Or perhaps I'll pen a sonnet,
if the melody sits all wrong

Intro to song. "Billy Bob" lends a "redneck" image. a person too ignorant to think for himself. he's going to write a song and tell billy bob what's up... most "billy bobs" will accept it as true. song or poem, no difference in the message as the words are what carry the power. i'm a new listener, but it seems primus' music is not limited to a set rythym one would find in a melody. he's claiming he is not just pop-artist. he should let his music speak for itself. (anti-pop)

II. "Hand me down a crayon,
and I'll draw a mighty oak
'Cause of all my brother Masons,
I'm the quickest with a joke"

he chooses "crayon" and "mighty oak"
the "quickest with joke" of his "brother masons"

crayon is the bastard child of art medium, but he’ll use it to create a masterpiece, braggart. mighty oak is conjures a strong image, steady, tried, powerful and wise, but then the joke line flips the oak to weakness. unknowledgeable, not even an acorn.

III. Catch me in the right light,
you'll see my shapes shaped to please
And if I shank my trousers down,
I'm hung just above the knees

depending on when or how you perceive him,
you might be pleased with what you think dislike. lights and smoke and mirrors are deceptive. Shank is phallic. and he's f'n hung. like "Big Dick" Cheney. worship the penis of baal.

IV. You may have difficulty catchin' breath,
when you hear my weighty name
I'm the one that told you, told you so,
they calls me Puddin' Taine

he's bad-ass, his name alone will shake your ass scared. he gave you your knowledge, and now you know. your whole existence is based on what he told you. lies, lies, lies.

V. Now step on up to dance the dance,
and touch the hand that heals
Like the tallest hog on Wall street,
I'm a wheelin' all the deals

You’re in a system of lies that you instinctively know is wrong, you'll try anything to get this new knowledge out of your head- doctors, priests, lawyers, but they’re all part of the system. where you gonna go now? Look around it’s astounding how nobody knows but for the lie that they’ve told.

VI. They'll carve my face in marble,
they'll etch my name in stone
They'll paint my noble portrait,
and historify my home

The powerful (puppetmasters, elite, rulers, cocksuckers) will always be in power. status quo. to the victors go the spoils. history is written by the victors, and unfortunately, the victors of war usually win by cheating. manipulate and control with no honor. they will call themselves heroes and you will accept it as truth. (2+2=5) that's what your textbook said, it must be right, right? we're talking real life heroes here, c. columbus, g. washington, tt. jefferson, r. regan, g. bush, kings in a totalitarian type system called democracy. false idols for you to dote about. puppets and scenes in a play. enjoy the grandest tale ever written as you debate with your father about Bush's idiocy and Clinton's blow job. You’re as much a part of it as they are, you just allow them to make money off of you and tell you how to live. silly distractions from the truth, forever carved in the system's stone. Mount rushmore sized gods. see also hollywood/television celebrities (models of physical and existential truth) , pro athletes (a bunch of grown up peewee league bullshit)...
do you see?

do you know?

Which pill is for you? Down and down it goes the frowning clown of anti-knowledge.

be careful how you answer.

Perceive and analyze. i don't know anything other than my perception, but the site asked what I thought... Hit me up if you wanna talk: chaz_kenney_3@hotmail.com

The Raconteurs – Broken Boy Soldier Lyrics 19 years ago
maybe he realizes that as we exist in time's illusion, we are tricked into believing we "grow up". we reach certain ages and think we know things we really don't.

"Children wake up,
hold your mistake up,
before they turn the summer into dust.

If the children don't grow up,
our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.
We're just a million little god's causin rain storms turnin' every good thing to rust."- Arcade Fire, "Wake Up"

maybe he's not fixated on it as much as he's trying to tell us something. By going back to school, he's re-educating himself outside the government mandated education we're all stuck with. a revolution for the mind.

Wake up.
The boy never gets older

Zero 7 – In The Waiting Line Lyrics 20 years ago
WAKE UP.
Watch "Waking Life", watch "What the Bleep Do We Know?"
Most people spend their entire lives not realizing they have been force fed their existence.
Judging by the responses on this page, a few came close, but no one really got it. And most of you are too caught up in Zero 7 or Garden State to even form your own thoughts on this message.
We are forced to live in an existence built around money and possesion and all sorts of other BS. But this existence is an illusion. Nothing is real. Everyday you wake up and go to school or work or whatever, you do it because YOU THINK YOU HAVE TO. you have been lied to your whole life. The same is true of your parents and so on. There is much more to life than what we see. Most people just aren't aware of it, most people are just standing in a line waiting for something to happen to them.

If you want to break free, watch the movies listed above, watch and understand the real meaning of the Matrix Trilogy. Look inside yourself. Question everything. Stop buying the BS you are fed daily through the Mass Media.

MOST IMPORTANTLY- TURN YOUR TV OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OutKast – Babylon Lyrics 20 years ago
This song shows an awakening to a reality we have been programmed to believe since birth. Babylon is the world we live in today, there is nothing ancient about it. it is a world of control that has been pulled over our eyes.
there are some other details included to help the verse flow, but ultimately, we see a battle begin to form between a new perception of the world with their previous beliefs and attitudes of this world.

Wake Up America! See the TRUTH!
