This is one of my favorite Cake songs. I think there are a lot of good ideas on here regarding the woman being in the relationship for material reasons. The first line about her not caring if he's an island, to me, means it doesn't matter to her if he's a typical man who keeps his emotions to himself, as long as his "ship comes in", or as long as he is sucessful. What matters to her is that they have fun and money. I also think the line about her breasts bouncing on the sofa is a pointed sexual reference to doing it doggie-style, but it's really all about the girl, not the guy at all. I mean, who sees the breasts bounce while doing it doggie-style? The girl. I think he bought her a pair of healthy breasts, and that she likes it from behind because it goes along with her fun-loving, yet emotionally distant, life. If she wasn't having fun, she wouldn't be dong it.
As a female who owns vibrators, I totally disagree with the vibrator theory. I think it is about her manipulation and the ease about which she gets what she wants, and the freezer furthers the allusion that any extra she gets (of whatever she wants) is put away until she needs it. The man may be emotionally distant and rich, but the girl doesn't care as long as she is happy, and she's very good about keeping herself happy. |

This song is like when you drive by an accident and you have to look. I hear it, and I have to listen, even though I know it is bad. If I ever refer to my boobs as "my lovely lady lumps", just shoot me. The beat is good, the IDEA of the song isn't bad, I just think the lyrics SUCK. |

I never thought about it as crack, but now that I've heard it, it makes total sense. I had an ex who lost his million dollar house for crack, he wouldn't and won't give it up for anyone. And using a woman as an allusion is actually pretty brilliant. I've heard the high of crack described as a "full body orgasm". It just makes so much sense. |
