Ben Harper – Serve Your Soul Lyrics 20 years ago
This is my favorite song from the album. Its one of the longest songs on the album, I haven't totall contemplated the lyrics yet it just sounds awesome. Sometimes music doesn't haven't to say something specific, you just hear it and you're moved. Anyways I just love Ben and whenever I'm at a crossroad in my life it just seems like his music is always a companion.

Audioslave – Show Me How to Live Lyrics 20 years ago
Well there was a time after the grunge era and soundgarden that Chris was really depressed, a lot of friends had died, were on drugs. He was away for while. With audioslave this is like a rebirth for him, he's in a positive band with positive people, he just wants to know how to live this life that is kinda different from his last life.

Dave Matthews Band – Don't Drink the Water Lyrics 20 years ago
First I have to say that this song does what so many others don't: it tells a very detailed story and its beautiful and sad and musical. I think this song is about Africa. Especially South Africa with apartheid. The White "citizens" took the best parts of the land and gave the native black people what was left over. When the black people started demanding their rights the white's were like "What were you expecting, no room for both, just room for me". Its not like America has the best socioeconomic structure but a least we have found ways to live together. I think the saddest part of the song is "what's that you say your father spirit still lives in this place" its like blatant disregard for people's culture and leads to ruination of all of our history. And by all i mean all, black, white asian, whatever. The world is like one big city sometimes, there's no differences which is so great, we're just like one big metropolis with no distinct identity because we don't respesct each others past which makes us who we are. Well anyways, i think I've rambled on enough, great song!!

Marc Broussard – The Beauty of Who You Are Lyrics 20 years ago
This is a beautiful song! If a guy wrote this for me I would melt. I don't even like songs from this genre. Its just a beautiful song, sung beautifully.

Chris Cornell – Preaching The End of The World Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this was written in a tough period for Chris. A lot of his friends like Jeff Buckley and Andrew from Mother Love Bone were dying and it seemed to him he would end up all alone. Its really sad and to feel like you're the only one sometimes even when you're in a crowed room.
