| Cocteau Twins – Know Who You Are At Every Age Lyrics | 18 years ago |

so beautiful. very moving. crying is how we give ourselves back to ourselves. its the soul trying to tell us something about who we are. that we are fragile, precious, and beautiful. not to mention 'good'. this song is so wonderfully emo, and so perfectly hits on such a strong concept of grief and pain and humanity emerging from that. this is day 2 of me having this song on repeat. |

| Joanna Newsom – Sprout and the Bean Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think the sprout and then bean is sorta the inception to the finished product. child to a man, etc. the 'difference' between the sprout and the bean only that they are at different points in the same process. | |

"Well, see what you wanna see You should see it all" i always have these lyrics running through my head as i observe how people view situations in the way that they want to see them. usually kinda biased and skewed. you know? |

"sugar sweet. she loves it when it hits her teeth" sugar=cocaine. (probably. i dont really know) but aside from whatever it may mean, i absolutely love the melody of this song. definitely one of my absolute favorites. |

| Modest Mouse – I've Got It All (Most) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

to me i think this song is about preachy christians who annoy the shit out of him. but the "how can someone mess up so consistently" part, i have no idea where that comes in! great song. |

| Tori Amos – Mother Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i think she might really be saying "mother- the corps (pronounced "core") is here" | |
| Tori Amos – Mother Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| suppose this. when i hear this song, i think of tori as a young goddess in a "heaven" type of place, and a God-type figure is needing someone to come to earth on an "assignment" which she accepted. But now she's scared, because she knows she'll forget EVERYTHING she knows; she'll forget absolutely everything about who she really is and where she came from, and she'll be exposed to the darkness of this world; knowing she's going to be living the life of a stripper. So in the beginning of the song, god is urging her to be brave and leave the comfort of her "nest". S/He's reminding her "she raised her hand for the assignment". when she says "mother, the corp is here", she's talking about a group of angels who are there to take her to earth. and in her fear of what she's about to undergo, she says "maybe, you'll leave a light on", (to either this "god", or a motherly type figure she has there in this "heaven"); saying dont let me forget too much. don't let me get too lost in my earthly life. leave that little light on (in my mind/in my heart). and one of the single most beautiful lines out of any song ever- "breadcrumbs lost under the snoowwww". it reminds me of how i felt when i was a kid, thinking about never-never land- how you forget. So dramatic, and so beautiful. classic tori. probably my favorite song by her. | |
