Slipknot – Psychosocial (Album version) Lyrics 16 years ago
Rain is a common metaphor for Change... which easily works with the song

Since people fear very little as much as they fear change...

And the *change* will kill us all!

Could be what he was trying to get across there...

Hey what the shit... some of my last comment didn't get published :S

As I had said;

If you need help finding me, Canada is the one just North of the U.S. on your map. :)

I'm sure you'll be able to find my French-speaking father feeding my pet beaver and watering my maple trees down the path from my igloo. :) Ignorance is bliss.

Cheers.

Hahaha... I read on the first page someone arguing America as the country with the wonderful standard of living and something along the lines of "Just name another one blah blah"

Canada!

Infact... We have a higher standard of livng, and not trillions of dollars in debt with other countries.

We don't start wars that we can't afford :)

We keep the peace instead... some have viewed it as the "way to be"

I've been the to U.S. it's a nice place... some nice people... some good bands... including Korn

Looking at the moms gonna fix it all soon, I was wrong, mom is Mother Nature, and shes going to fix the worlds problem by putting all back the way it ought to be (underwater)

and about the whole part where he's like fuck L. Ron Hubbard and fuck all his clones and all of that, i think that those are the people he personally blames for fucking up a beautiful place, and bringing down their judgement day which is going to come "any fucking time, any fucking day" so theres some more to think about

Tool – Aenema Lyrics 20 years ago
This song has to do with how the sinners in LA are bringing forth the same thing that happened to Atlantis. California is going to sink in a terrible earthquake, this being "gods" wrath because of the stupid things people there do. 'Arizona Bay' did no one catch on, look at the picture inside of the album, behind the cd, there's a picture of california dissappearing and flooding. When california sinks and the people there get whats coming, it'll be forgotten and simply named Arizona Bay, because Arizona borders California. Another aspect is people think that 'mommy' is going to fix everything for you, he's telling you that if you don't want to die, do something about it. Flushing them all away, the ocean will do that when the state sinks below the waterline. He then tells you that if you were smart you'd be learning how to swim so atleast then you'll have a better chance at surviving. This is a message to Californians explaining to them why their world is going to end in a most horrid, auful, bloody fashion. Thank you.

Audioslave – Bring 'Em Back Alive Lyrics 20 years ago
Since the Icarus thing seems to fit best, why wouldn't the city in the clouds be Mt. Olympus? He was on his way there, (becoming a god?) when he lost his way ("lost his mind") maybe referring to another greek myth, which on im not sure of but it reminds me of poseidon, maybe the story of Orestes? anyways, Im not sure how the third verse fits in unless its people abandoning their religion (as in the greeks and their gods) thats my guess...

System of a Down – I-E-A-I-A-I-O Lyrics 20 years ago
Commenting on what the last guy said...ya him the conceded jerk ass one..."wootwoot" had his point. America DOES make everything seem great. The media report on things that have no relavance what so ever to what you need to know. Instead of getting realistic reports on the war you've got yourselves involved in you hear about how Brat Pitt is fucking some new actress and how he abandoned the last one :O oh my! if only that mattered! Now on the other hand there's no problem being patriotic and I'm glad americans can still wake up in the mornings and not feel ashamed of themselves for electing Bush again. Now going on and saying that America sucks was a bit harsh. Every nation has their problems. BUT when you say that there is no better place...I can't help but ask...How do you know? have you been to every other place...Extreemly unlikely. Now as far as the songs meaning goes, the KKK version makes good sence for the chanting part and the lighting up the sky, but I believe that the rest has to do with how things distract you from what is really important... things like sex, meeting someone, hearing aboutan undercover cop recovering, and worrying about catching up on things like superman or what the president has to say...and so on. Instead of getting the months casualty reports from Iraq, or how far the war has put the States into debt. How tying this in with the KKK works, im not sure, but maybe im wrong about it and it does have to do with patriotism...maybe alittle too much to the point where you become blinded by your flag. 'jek21' in his entire statement made no comments about the song... good job...you are now the most irrelavant person here, if you want to say something in defence for America...do it somewhere where you might make an impact. not trying to belittle everyone here.
Thank you.

System of a Down – Boom! Lyrics 20 years ago
Holy Shit. I happened to be reading the first page and there i go noticing that someone here has a problem with Canadians. If this applies to you, and you hold contempt against Canadians then you've lost all of my respect right there. Canada has just as much right to listen to music as anyone else in the world... so whoever said that, fuck you. The song itself has to do with the protests, or atleast the video obviously does. Now during those protests CANADA also went out of their way to make a stand. CANADA went out and protested in as bitter as -40 fucking degreese celcius. SO FUCK YOU! I'm Canadian, you got a problem with me, then FUCK YOU. I was fucking there! I was fucking there in Toronto protesting the same thing system was. SO FUCK YOU, who the fuck do you think you are! You racist mother fucker! I hope you fucking choke. What the fuck did Canada ever do to you eh asshole! For fuck sakes! I've never seen a comment more ignorant in my entire life. Fuck

Thrice – The Abolition Of Man Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm just wondering if anyone might have made a connection between the last lines and the title? Science could be refering to weapons (Atomic) that will end us all. Just thought that might be a subliminal peace on earth message...just maybe.

System of a Down – Forest Lyrics 20 years ago
"The abolition of man is within the reach of science but are we so far gone that we'd try it?"

That isnt system but the idea is the same. Man is eventually going to turn on eachother to the point of nuclear war..."Made the weapons" and Forests turning to sand and the reference about wine, possibly biblical (wine=blood) and the entire thing about being his child is speaking about everyone being of one mind and how only we can make sure that nuclear war never begins... thats what i got anyways. Thank you.

by the way, i commented on this song once already but i dont know where the hell it went, so if im saying the same things twice i apologise.

Personally I believe that this song is speaking of our species setting itself up for destruction, when that's not even what the majority of people want. Look at the lyrics and try to apply that concept and I think it works really well. It reminds me of something I heard in the middle of an awsome Thrice solo:

"The abolition of man...is within the reach of science...but are we so far gone that we'd try it?"

In the song "Made the weapons for us all" is referring to Atomic and Nuclear devices and "Why can't you see that you are my child, why dont you know that you are my mind?" is referring to how most people are of one mind, that being we don't want what we've been given (the world given to the children of today) because its so fucked up its going to be impossible to fix. Thanks.

Personally, and I'm not to sure, I believe this song is about individualists seeking power.

"drink from the river then we turn around and put up our walls"

Waterfalls often represent extreme power. I believe this song is about power mongers and the fact that those people dont know when to stop. Once again, I'm not entirely confident in my interpretation. Thanks.

System of a Down – Sad Statue Lyrics 20 years ago
"What is in us that turns a deaf ear to the cries of human suffering?"

I think this isn't simply referring to the American government, but also to it's people. If you really agree with what they're saying, you may consider doing something about it:)

"you and me will all go down in history,
witha sad statue of liberty,
and a generation that didnt agree."

I dont believe that this is referring to George Bush Or Duck Cheny but when he says "You and me" I believe he means exactly that. Him and you, and all the other boys and girls who still believe in what the statue of liberty stands for. Or what is said in the declaration of independance, the United Nations, or the government for that matter. I've got to admit you all unite behind a banner which has long been shattered for all it stood for. I think that's what is being said. Thank you.

System of a Down – Hypnotize Lyrics 20 years ago
The reference to Tianaman Square says:

"Why don't you ask the kids at Tianaman Square?
was Fashion the reason why they were there?"

I believe that this is clearly about the massacre in 1989 where 5000 students protested communism in China and since protesting is against the law there, they were attacked by the army. The army in the city refused to attack and so an army was brought in from outside the city and drove on the square in tanks, it was an unmetigated slaughter.

"They disguised it, hypnotized it"

is i believe referring to the fact that the entire incident was covered up for YEARS!

"Television made you buy it."

is I believe referring to the fact that not only was it covered up but lied about to the entire world. Lied about by none other than the media.

The entire waiting for my girl part is a mystery to me, but I've seen some good and relavent ideas put forth here. I just thought I'd add what I know about American media. Thank you.

System of a Down – Question! Lyrics 20 years ago
Well I have read quite a lot of the comments said for this song, and I must say...I havn't gotten too far without people turning this into a religious debate. That certainly isn't the point of the song, so if you people don't mind, shut up.

The song in my opinion is obscured and almost entirely metaphorical. "Sweet Berries" is reffering to, as many have said, "Death" in such a way as the choice of how to die. Someone before me commented on the change in tone, and I strongly agree. You can't judge a song solely on it's lyrics, but you have to look at the overall sound. It is clear to me, and I hope everyone, that this is not a happy song. This to me rules out a religious meaning. Anyone who doesn't believe that this song is obviously reffering to death needs to listen to it again. Death is a major factor in this songs lyrics, and I definetly like what was said about the music video. It makes the most sence to me that those are unquestionably the four horsemen, and with all of the death (bird, woman, girl) there's no way I could have interpreted this any other way. As far as questioning the "afterlife" That may very well be the case, and I hate to say it like this, but nothing else said in the song is striaght forward, so why would that be. I belive that the do we die part is also a metaphore. For what I'm not entirely sure. Many people here presume that they know everything going through Serj Tankian's head, and wow, I've got to say. No you dont! Unless you're Serj Tankian, do not presume to tell others what he is thinking. Not to say ofcourse that saying something like "I think that's what it means" but dont say something like "THIS IS WHAT HE THOUGHT!" because how the hell do you know? Thank you.
