| Ben Folds – Give Judy My Notice Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| You're joking right? Because if not you're a complete idiot. For one thing he's giving her his notice. So no one's getting fired (least of all judy) he's resigning from their releationship. You're a complete idiot. Don't detract from a beautiful song with you're stupid jokes, or if you're not joking then you're just a complete moron. | |

| i doubt i can put it better than david grimmer but essentially its about a couple who's love has grown somewhat stale and they want to start over with another first kiss! | |

I have to agree with FLYING TREEMONKEY and Erisian. To me its a sort of vague social commentary bout how in the 80s everything started going disco and how you couldn't hear anything when you wanted to talk in night clubs because it was too damn loud! Randyisnot might be onto something because it does seem as though he is trying to say something which has to do with the love machine. who knows? The funniest line is... They revamped the airport completely now it looks just like a nightclub. Everyone's excited and confused. |

| Dave Matthews Band – Crash Into Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| callsign, you could have put forward you views with slightly more subtlety and taste (What would dave do?) as they are some what blunt. Any who anyone noticed that gwen stefani's new single crash uses a similar, crashing for sex metaphor. Although in the dmbs song the boy is only fantasising where as with gwen its always gonna be a reality (don't tell me you wouldn't!) | |

| Gwen Stefani – Crash Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Don't you think the idea of crashing into each other as a metaphor for sex is a bit of a rip off of the DAVE MATTHEWS BAND'S, 'Crash into me'. Don't get me wrong i love gwen but if you want a crash as a metaphor for sex song, then check out Dave Matthew's Bands crash into me. Its much better | |

Such an emotionly correct song. its clear many of us can identify with dave's sentiment in this song. The meaning is fairly clear. A man fantasises about a woman who he likes and he thinks that she likes him too but doesn't know for certain and is afraid to take the plunge and ask. he suspects and later finds out it was all in his head (or was it..?) Easily the best line in the song, 'Silence in my screaming won't you come and get me' a sentiment i can identify with extremely stongly. Such a true song! Good music too. the riff is similar to that of message in a bottle by the police. indeed it is the same riff in places but on diffecernt frets (same intervals though). It gives the song a very sting and the policey feel which is cool! Lastly, THE EVERYDAY ALBUMN is not bad. Its killer and anyone who says it isn't obviously hasn't been listening. |

This is such an emotionally correct song. Its clear a lot of people can identify with this song, i certainly can. The meaning is fairly clear, a man thinks a woman likes him and fantasises about them being together, but doesn't want to take the plunge and ask her about it. He suspects and later finds out that the whole thing was in his head (or was it...?) Easily one of dave's best lyrics and one i can identify with so easily 'The silence in me screaming won't you come and get me!' So true. Good music too. The riff used is similar to that of message in a bottle by the police, (it uses the same intervals but starts a fret down). It gives the song a very POlicey stingy feel. |

Firstly i have only heard the speed graphic version of this song and i don't see how it could be improved on. The song is about a man in a 'one way' releationship, who devouts himslf to his partner and does everything for her but gets little in return, hes been living just to se her smile! Prior to the relationship the man knew that the girl would eventually settle for him if he tried to win her heart hard enough. As such he is being 'Loved by default'. Said man has had enough of 'being loved by default' he can't take the 'vacuum' that is destroying 'himself' (personality), hes fed up of 'feeling small', and doesn't want to be judy's 'bitch anymore'. the main point in the song is that the relationship has becom LIKE A JOB, hence breaking up with judy being decribed as handing in his notice. He breaks up with her, she crys, but only because he broke up with her before she had the chance to dispose of him. Ergo the tears mean nothing. He is not sorry for breaking up with her. I think saving the line 'give judy my notice' to last was another ben folds master stroke. The Job/relationship analogy is a good one too. Of course this is just my interpretation, although i'd be interested to hear an alternative interpreation. Great song, Great MAn |
