I saw him live and he said that he wrote this song about his girlfriend because she made him miss London. Also, makes him see things in a more positive light. You know, how London is known for being rainy and gray, but with her he can see the beauty of it. It's pretty sweet. |

This song always makes me thing of springtime. The imagery of the sunshine and renewal just hits me that way. It strikes me as an elegant metaphor for that phase everyone goes through right after a break up when they realize that life goes on, that you can look back on your relationship and smile. |

That's very different from the way I've always heard it. I always got the impression that the first verse was from the point of view of one person comforting another. The second verse strikes me as being from the point of view of the person being comforted. The first verse has "you came to me," whereas the second one has "you quiet my worried mind" (loosely paraphrased, lol). Holding each other is the source of the comfort for both.
I've often wondered if this song was written with something like 9/11 in mind. Maybe that's just me... |

I don't think it has so much to do with Roger's fear of infecting Mimi with AIDS so much as it has to do with his fear of putting himself out there and getting hurt. He is extremely hurt, angry, and depressed about the situation with April, and he is very resistant towards letting anyone else get that close. |
