I read all your meanings. And I agree with them. But now for my meaning. Let's keep his "lover" as a bi-entity, it can either be hip-hop or a women. Throw away the 'must be this or that' perception. With that said, I think it's obvious that slug is touching on the exploration of "her". She's a head-case, she's complicated, she's experienced a lot, and so has he. There were others who tried to explore "her". And it seems like Slug feels like he is going to be the one to conquer this mission. He is going to "take his time and find the right way to climb". And once he encounters the obstacles he'll "cut through trees, and ride through rocks". Meaning to me, he is willing to dedicate his time to persevere where many fail to travel... through her beautiful complications; her neuroses; her flaws; her addictions; her misunderstood side. *Slug loves the hurt women... wtf do you think all his songs are about!? Bleeding Heart's Club? Lucy IS Hip-Hop! God Loves Ugly!? Slug connects with the complicated, because he himself is conscious of all his complications. Hence, he writes conscious rap. Deep-thinking rap... so when you say there can be multiple meanings I have to agree. That's exactly it. But I believe the themes he wants to try and communicate are as follow: Exploration of complicated women which can also be hip-hop; Hip-hop is slug's complicated lover. Can we agree to that? Slug's chorus seems to be his claim that he is obviously the right man for this head-case... only if he could show her; only if she chose to see. |

I agree with what was said before, he pretty much sums a lot of meaning when he slug says "Embrace how i live, cause god loves ugly" This may have a lot to do with his life and others judging him for it, or looking down upon him. He is straight up saying, everyone, everywhere was created for a reason... and you better start accepting all of life... not just what appeals to you; dont get excited when things dont work out for you. |

Pardon my meaning; since it may offend one or another. Maybe it has to do with his relationship with his girlfriend(s) AND his life. He is being dragged down in this song... Sounding defenseless... Acting as if he has had enough of this one thing Since there are two poems that dont go together... (abstract idea but) Ever think it could be explaining his suicide (one poem) Ever think it could be explaining his feelings towards the relationship (another poem that doesnt really have much to do with eachother... yet are said at the same time (same period of time in his life both are being thought of)) "THATS WHY" while BOTH ideas are being expressed. maybe he was able to express both ideas through these lyrics. any thoughts? |
