I absolutely love this song. I feel like every The Academy Is... song is always written so precisely that if you change ONE WORD... the whole meaning of the song would change. I think this song is about fakes and identity searching. "The Author" I believe is yourself. You write your own book (aka- your life). "he may seem familiar because he looks like your mirror" totally gave away the whole author thing... i think that is the best line in the whole song. Continual repetition of words like "actor", "mirror", "stranger" all help to suggest the idea of identity/identity searching. The song may also have a hint of religion. Demons are mentioned and your maker is mentioned too. |
