| There doesn't seem to be much to that verse: it's talking about old people being sick and dying, then I think Conor could be saying since our lives lead up to death anyway, maybe our whole life is us dying..slowly dying maybe | |

I'm gonna take a different approach: First off, it's not suicide like people are saying, it's definitly murder. The fact that it says, "there's no tears, cause he's not here" is clearly her no longer being sad because she has killed him and he doesn't exist anymore. Another point to back up the fact that she killed him is that line is after "She's pulling the trigger..." Then she makes dinner, cops come to take her away and she's left with nothing but the moon. About the "lucid and departed" part, this seems pretty self explanatory: she's very much awake yet numb. For those unclear about "But what do you say we go for a ride? What do you say we get high? But I'm so tired of days that feel like the night" This could be her alone thinking of what to do now. Drive? Smoke? Assuming time has passed, she's now tired of it being just her and the moon. |

It might be just the mood I'm in or my take on society but this song seems to be describing religion and suicide. There is so much hypocrisy in the catholic christian religions it's very annoying. "They'll tell you what they know But they won't show" would be the church saying "Do as I say not as I do." The suicidal part would be "Walls have ears but No one hears when Nobody's around" and the last part would be the church describing a heaven when everyone knows the truth is no one has any idea if there is or isn't a heaven "They'll tell you where to go But they won't know " That's what I think anyway. |

| I always seemed to hear this song when I could totally relate it to my life. There would always be a guy that I'd want to date, but couldn't for whatever reason. I think this song is basically that, times ten (since it is love). I'm thinking the woman he loves is slightly being forced to be with her boss or someone like that. Also, with that boss-figure around, the narrator is unable to "stay here" because he's "been denied." | |
