I'm surprised by this song, it's a lot different than her other ones (to me). It's really pretty. Don't really like the video because it's mostly her strutting around but oh well, still a good song. This is my favorite part: Yes you can hold my hand if you want to Cause I want to hold yours too We'll be playmates and lovers and share our secret worlds Anyways, I think the meaning is self-explanatory so I won't bother =P |

I love this song :) And I hate to break it to you, but... she's a Christian singer. Her music is Christian. So we're not shoving it down anyone's throat by saying that. Yes, you can interpret it anyway you want and maybe to you it's not about God, but she's still a Christian singer, so you can't say it's absolutely NOT about God. I think this song is about peer pressure. I may be way over analyzing it, but to me, it sounds like they're on some sort of trip for school (like with band) to a theme park and his friends are all getting into mischief, doing things they shouldn't. He can't call anybody to pick him up because he's out of daytime minutes and he lost his cell phone on the ride anyway, so he just has to wait to go home with everyone else. And if you want to really over analyze... Chapstick is a metaphor/symbol for material things like clothing, chapped lips is for looks and physical appearances, and things like chemistry are complicated things that he doesn't even understand. So yes, that's what people are criticizing about him :P |

Actually quackmoohum, they didn't "work hard to try and get off it." Ben said, "What the **** are we doing there?" about being on the list in an interview, which was enough to knock it off. Amy Lee has said that she just writes her feelings so sometimes some songs sound Christian, but they are not a Christian band, that's just one way it could be interperted. Or that's what it said in this book I have. =) |

Amy Lee says in an interview I downloaded... "Bring Me To Life can be about anything that makes you feel. Because to me, it's sort of like, you get into a routine of life and you kind of just wake up every day and go through the same routine and start forgetting why you're living, you know, and forgetting having a reason and just become very numb and just.. day to day.. it's horrible. And you don't realize it until something happens like you fall in love or someone says something to you that makes you go you know, are they psychic? Do they know what I'm feeling? Someone just said something to me once.. and I blew it way out of proportion for the song but I was going through a very hard time in my life but I was totally in denial. And someone- I didn't even know them, I had met them THAT day- and he said to me, "Are you happy?" And I was like just like *gasp* and I just like looked down and was like "Yeah, I'm really happy, what are you talking about? Everything's fine." But it shocked me and it made me reevaluate what was going on. And that's basically what this song is about- finding something that you want to live for." |
