| This song is awesome. Very powerful. I'm going to be honest, I didn't hear this song untill Saturday. When I was at Download Festival '06. (For those of you who don't know, it's one of the biggest rock festivals held at Donnington Park in the UK formerly known as Monsters of Rock) They played it near the end of them playing. But it was great, and the emotion behind it was very powerful. I agree that it's a love song, and how they feel so strongly about their significant other, that "nothing else matters" But, I like it how people take songs and interpret them their own way to fit themselves. I mean, yeah artists might write lyrics and have their meaning. But every song I think is meant to be interpreted in your own way. =] | |

| I agree with aeris1213, it's a beautiful and sad song at the same time, one of the beauties about it, that it can be interpreted in so many ways. I pretty much interpret it as, the unrequited love thing. And this goes too richie8092. There's no need to have a dig at someone like that... lay off it man. "No1 cares." Ofcourse people care, plus. | Heh delvec19 has said it. Great song nonetheless, I'm not quite sure what it's about, but this is my interpretation. I think it's to do with someone who has made a mistake and messed stuff up, they've lost their best friend because of this. They want to apologise and want second chances, but this isn't the first time. And that they are contemplating suicide in some parts. "This is my life support shutting down for the final time." They want to end the pain. But I don't know really, it's probably wrong but just a try. | |

| I agree with whats said, it's about how/what the person is feeling through as DingleberryElectron and emo bah said. The first part captures the hopelessness and emptyness the person is feeling. Heavy part is ofcourse during the suicide, maybe capturing anger, or the final struggle untill they die because the song is much heavier and the growling, just a thought. And the third part, ofcourse is them leaving to the after life, finally reaching tranquility and ofcourse all their problems are left behind. | |

I must say I agree with JohnnyTrajik... but I want to put what the song means to me. =] Lets look at the first part. "Holy eyes, I never knew I'd beg down at your feet. Hold on tight I never, never know much more than this. Open sky the wave of pain the scent of you is bliss. Hungry eyes they stare at me, I know, I know, don't go." :- It's like in a relationship that is going wrong. Begging them not to leave/split up, and saying that they never knew this would happen "I never knew I'd beg down at your feet." On to the line "Open sky the wave of pain the scent of you is bliss" Makes me think that they are open to being hurt "Open sky the wave of pain" and that when they know the person is there it feels like everything is good "the scent of you is bliss". Then it's like, they know it is the right thing to be letting go/splitting up, "I know, I know, don't go." Second part of the song now. "Summertime, the taste of saint secrets, perfume mist console the mind I take it in, lips of pink I kiss, Lonely sky the more you take the more I give in. Holy eyes, I never knew, I know, I know don't go. Hold on to the memory its all you got, I know you'll be there to soak up blood lost, blood lost, blood loss." :- To me this is them looking back at what they had, but the good points "Summertime the taste of saint secrets, perfume mist console the mind I take it in, lips of pink I kiss." It's like they feel alone, and that when they see them they give into how they feel for them, and they don't want them to go. It's like they have finally moved on, but keep the memories that they had as it is all that is left of what they had, "Hold onto the memory it's all you got." And the last line " know you'll be there to soak up blood lost, blood lost, blood loss." It's like they've found someone else to be there for them. And to take the pain away that they've had. So yeah my look on it, still even if it's wrong. It's a great song, very powerful and Brody Dalle's voice is really good in this one. Well, catch you around. |

Well I bought NOFX's album "Wolves in Wolves' Clothing" and the CD2 was a Fat Sample CD, and this song was in it....Instantly I related to it, it sucks in a position like this. It might not be about an ex, but a girl that he loves, but it's the feeling of true love not just being infactuated. And that he wants her to feel the same way, and he is getting upset etc over the fact he doesn't have her. "I'm standing still But where do I go from here? I'd rather run away Than spend another day running out of tears." My favourite bit from the whole song =] |

I think it's more to do with depression, feeling like you have hundreds of problems, it doesn't seem to end, and more just keeps coming. Hence: "It's a never ending story, and it starts with me." Onto the chorus, this is questioning how long the depression will last, they want to get out of it, but they feel so helpless so they just want to know when it will end... hence: "On and on, And I just feel helpless how long will this take to wear off?" So yeah, my interpretation of it ^.^ it might not be right... but I can relate to it from that point of view, and when you feel like that, it's bad. |

First of all, it's a well written song like PrettyLikeDrugs said, and doesn't disappoint. Moving on to my crack at it. It's about trying to survive through difficult times. And how it affects you (depression/selfharm) the want to be alone during these times, hence; "Give me isolation just for now/I feel a hard rain coming down/I promise that I will be back soon/But for now I'll return to my cocoon." So basically, he knows he's going to go through a difficult time, and that he made a cocoon to protect himself from this. "Cracks in the chrysalis spread out like tiny snakes" Well, that's my crack at the meaning behind the song. ^.^ |

| okay, so after having a long talk about this album STS, my friend who's been an AFI fan for a good few years, told me the truth behind this album, and i agree with him. The album is basically death, and yet being reborn. Alas, it comes to the the final song "This Time Imperfect", where Davey is finally dies, and fades into the underworld (it's on the unreleased video, cant remember which thing it was on though.) The correct order of songs though in the album is mixed up. I cant remember the correct order, but Bleed Black should go before this one, as the lyrics go "I know I died that night, and will never be brought back to life again." | |
