every single line of this song can in some way relate to the relationship i had with the girl of my dreams who just broke up with me...it's like she just expected everything to go back to normal when we broke up ("did you expect it all to stop at the wave of your hand")...she didn't really know why (''no use to focus when there's nothing left worth seeing'') then most powerful of all Well, winter is going to end and I’m going to clean these veins again. So close to dying that I finally can start living. right now it feels like winter will always be here and i'll never find another person for me...but i need to learn from this experience and i'll be better for it in the future |

ironically this song reminds me of my sister, who introduced me to bright eyes. "I wrote this for a baby Who has yet to be born" - i feel that's her...yeah she's been born but so far i've done my best to shelter her from the evil and pain and darkness in the world |

| this is one of my favorite songs of all time. i love most of bright eyes work, but this song especially because he talks about everything that's messed up in the world and in his life...but there's still the overall feeling of hope and that everything will be ok...no matter how i'm feeling this song gives me strength | |
