This song is about how about a relationship that didn't work out. She was too fragile and had too many emotional problems, whilest he wasn't man enough to take on her problems. She's disappointed but realizes that this is not his duty. So she turns to starving herself figuratively but also literally in attempt to take control of her life once again because the rest of her relationships have failed. So starving herself will protect her from being hurt again. |

They have recorded a new album (I think it was finished in Dec.) but they are just waiting for Oberst to get some rest after touring with Bright Eyes so he can tour with Desa. I'm courious if they'll be headlining or not and what size venues they'll play.
As for this song: I find this song to be slightly sexist. When in the beginning of the song they are making fun of girls who are materialistic: "He would have to support me financially, umm I like a many who has money". I think showing the male and female perspective in the Man and Wife songs is an attempt not to make the album sound sexist but I think it does downplay the fact that men are materialistic and shallow at times too. I mean I guess the music was writen by males but I just seems one-sided at times. |

Yeah I think its about a story about a person with a pill addiction. I don't think it has anything to do with the book/movie "Valley of the Dolls" or Neely Jenkins. |

This song is amazing! I didn't like the new MM album but this song is one of my favorite Modest Mouse songs ever. I like when he says "I like songs about drifters--books about the same" it reminds me of the book "The Drifters" I wonder if that was intentional. |
