This song was written by Ryan Buckner after the loss of his child in the delivery room. The 'little angel' is Ryan's lost child. Throughout the song Ryan expresses his feelings about losing a child, and states that "sometimes I wish I could fall asleep and never wake up". When we lose someone we love so much, sometimes all we want to do is just crawl up into a ball and do nothing-- or in this case, never wake up. At the end, Ryan states how '..I'll just wait for my time and you'll be mine again". He is saying that he will once again reunite with his lost child in Heaven. This is a beautiful song. Ryan's song 'Why' is about a child he lost in the delivery room, and I think this song is about the same incident. "Hands shake violently from the news - Little one inside you doesn't move" -- The 'little one' is Ryan's child who unfortunately did not survive birth, and the violently shaking hands is Ryan hearing the news. "What can I do this for you, how can I take this from you - 'Cause I'm so scared of this room that once made my dreams come true" -- This is Ryan talking to God, asking him what he can do to have his child back and wondering how he can accept this from the God he'd trusted all his life. Understanding he won't receive his child back, Ryan is becoming scared of the room that once made his dreams come true (i.e. the delivery room). "Lay you down beside the ones we knew - Nothing prepared me for losing you" -- I am not absolutely sure, but I believe this is referring to the burial of Ryan's lost child. He is saying how he never expected to lose a child during birth and is not prepared for the tragic loss. 'Lay you down beside the ones we knew' is, to me, referring to Ryan laying his child to rest beside other family members. This song is really touching and can touch people in many different situations. It's a song written from Ryan's heart, and once again a song that shows the lyrical talent of Ryan Buckner. |

This is a beautiful song. Joey is the name of Ryan Buckner's son, and this song is a tribute to him. Ryan's song 'Why' is about the loss of a child in the delivery room, and this song really expresses Ryan's love for his family-- notably his son. Throughout this song Ryan continuously states how his son lifts his spirits and makes him a better person. "When I feel that I have come undone, there you are smiling." Ryan is a true family man, and this is just one of many songs by Buckner expressing the true meaning of love and family. |

| Obviously, as the title states, this song is about the Virginia Tech massacre that took place on April 16, 2007. Ryan really shows a lot of lyrical talent in this song in my opinion, and the video for the song (on his YouTube page) really shows how truly affected he was by this event. To me this song is about being secluded from the rest of the world and not knowing what to do. "Kody", representing loneliness, has "got no reasons" to live. He has his "hat of broken dreams" and takes them out when he needs something to work for. He is asking for direction in his life but does not know what to do or where to go. He is asking to "please give me the bottle" as a way of stating his feelings and emotions about the world. He feels that drinking will relieve him from the stress and reality of his life. The line: "There's a squeak hinge down on the back gate It lets us know if he comes around I don't sleep that good anyway If you've never heard the silence, it's a God awful sound" .. refers to Kody waiting for someone to come and fix his problems for him but nobody is coming. He is lonely and has nobody to save him from his position. It's a god awful silence when nobody comes to save you from a deep-down situation. When he says "I could drive, but it takes so much to get there," he is saying that he (Kody) can get somewhere if he works for it but it takes too much work to reach his goal. All in all, it is, to me, about a lonely person who has nothing in his life. He is an outcast to society and cannot find a way out of his situation. |

This song is about the want for something new and something different. In the song, the the individual being sung about is tired of his life back at home and wants to just get up and move far away from everything. He says he wants to go to Boston, where "some snow would be nice". He is saying that where he lives, everything is repeating every day and there is no change of weather, no change of feelings, and no change in his life whatsoever. The line "you don't wear my chains" is saying that nobody knows how he feels and what he's going through and thinks he'll "start a new life" wherever he moves to. In short, this song is about the need to try something new and different from the ordinary. |
