M. Ward – Sad, Sad Song Lyrics 18 years ago
The way he sings the song is the clincher. But LOVE the line about the "And so I went to the whale, I said killer whale please,
what do you do when your true love leaves?
He said I only have but one trick up my sleeve,
I sing it over and over 'til she comes back to me.
I make a sad, make a sad, make a sad sad sad song. I make a sad, make a sad, make a sad sad song..."

hahah I really imagine a man talking to a killer whale and that with what he responds with. great LIne!

M. Ward – Right In The Head Lyrics 18 years ago
THIS IS THE REAL LYRICS:
"I hope she sticks around when he does thirty and and his dirty, dirty duel he has brewed. And though the names will get changed to protect the innocent, he said, "I hope the names will get changed to protect me."

My Brightest Diamond – Something of an End Lyrics 19 years ago
WoodenPirate, if it's just a metaphor, then why is it beautiful too?
==========
It was beautiful & terrible
So beautiful & terrible
======

what's beautiful about someone close to you getting an illness?

How does the beginning relate to the rest of the song? "when you came jumping down the stairs, ...screaming bloody awful" this is before the "end" starts to happen. I'm guessing the end of the world started--because what happened to her?

Modest Mouse – Satin in a Coffin Lyrics 20 years ago
I liked everyones comments, but one part I thought they generally forget or skipped over the part about "the blow's been softened" So what is it about the air we breathe--which signfies our death---that softens the blow? IT's that living is important: if we didn't have a chance to live we'd never have a chance to die.
