| I actually quite like this song although it does get repetitive. Don't know about anyone else but I instantly thought of Courtney Love when I heard it and the rivalry which according to Courtney is still ongoing. But Courtney will blab on about anything to get press. Other than that yeah, it's all sex, drugs and botox, pretty literal song. Not bad. | |
| Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm sorry to blag out the PC brigade and commenting on a song I don't like for the sake of it maybe isn't my business, but aside from the whiny pop-punket sound Avril produces in this albeit catchy song does anyone think this paints a sickeningly worrying (and truthful) portrayal of the teenage view of relationships? Treating women like objects of sexual desire and nothing more. "need a new one"??? I mean what, is this like when a pen runs out or something? Also, not only is the video flaunting the whole 'S.E.X sells' thing that I thought Avril didn't care too much about, the video also shows a girl with less good looks and eyesight problems in an embarrasing and inferior way. Hey maybe I'm being too politically correct, after all it's wrong to swear and have full frontal nudity on TV but inciting a concept of what is not sexy and demoralising it for the sake of cash...ya that's the modern world. People can die, teenagers can get pregnant and society can find new prejudices through the media to bully people with as long as the cash can be counted. | |

Proper Lyrics: Getting born in the state of Mississippi Papa was a copper and my mama was a hippy In alabama she was swinging hammer price you gotta pay when you pick the panarama she never knew that there was anything more than poor what in the world was your confidant take me for Black bandana sweet Louisiana robbing on a bank in the state of indiana she a runner, rebel and a stunner coming everyway saying baby what cha gonna looking down the barrel of a hop and a forty five Just another way to survive California rest in peace Simultaneous release California show your teeth She's my priestess, I'm your priest She's a lover baby and a fighter should of seen her coming when it got a little brighter With a name like Dani California Devils gonna come when I was gonna moan yah A little lonely she was stealing another breath I love my baby to death California rest in peace Simultaneous release California show your teeth She's my priestess, I'm your priest Who knew the other side of you who knew that all this tired to prove to true to say good bye to you to true to say say say.. was the bater gifted and a made her one for the now and eleven for the later never made it up to mineesota north dakota man was a gunning for the quota Down in the valley she was saving the best for last it only hurts when I laugh Gone to bed.. California rest in peace Simultaneous release, California show your teeth, She's my priestess, I'm your priest California rest in peace Simultaneous release, California show your teeth, She's my priestess, I'm your priest --------------------------------------- The line 'it only hurts when I laugh' over the top of the Kurt Cobain impersonation part of the video has to refer to Kurt's problem with his chest, which gave him pains all the time (which he tried to prevent using Heroin and other drugs). I'm not too good on meanings of songs, but I certainly know I love this one :) |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Too Cool Queenie Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| One thing I find odd about this song is how Weiland rushes the word 'he' in 'So he took his life' when all other lyrics in the song are sung straightforwardly. I'm guessing this is hinting at the conspiracy theory of Kurt's death as taking out the he would make the lyric 'She said he could do no right/So took his life'. Very clever indeed, STP were awesome. | |
