She didi't had a relationship with Leonard Cohen, but with Graham Nash... (C,S,N & Y).
First i always thought that the line 'i could drink a case of youand still be on my feet' ment that that she could take a lot from him but still couldn't stop loving him. But now i think that it means that her love for him is over....(drinking a lot but won't get drunk).
Anyway, this song is amazing. In her documentry 'Woman of heart and mind' there is this part where she does a live performance. I really want to have that concert.... it is even better than the album version. Here voice, her timing: it's perfect!!

I heard once that mick wrote this song for his son, wich, when he has to go on tour he didnt want to leave. I never read the complete lyrics very good, but this is what i heard.

The beginning of the organ part is from a famous Bach composition, known as 'air' from suite 3. I don't know any other song that sounds so dramtic.... But so beautiful.
