I reckon this song is yet another Romeo and Juliet -themed song, but it's just using The Crow (which is, guess what, about dying lovers etc) and Brandon Lee as a metaphor. Plus this band IS kind of obsessed with The Crow. |

i read in a rock magazine (probably metal hammer or british kerrang) that ville befriended a young guy in a bar while they were recording in america, and when the poor kid eventually killed himself, ville decided to start playing poison heart live because the boy was a big ramones fan. dont know how much of that is true, though. |

i quite agree with notreallyhere on the gay thing. but perhaps the song isn't about being in love with a girl. like, he's in love with a boy, but he's not out of the closet, and the boy he likes is going out with another boy (or maybe a girl). british kerrang pointed out all the gay references this week, too. |
