Buddy said in an interview that it was basically about his take on religion (namely Christianity) and his loss of faith. Taken from the interview: Question: What are some of the themes you tackle on the new record? "There's a lot about Christianity. A lot about a loss of faith I had. Bert said that the title is a reference to their music. A "Box" is a musical term, for the writing of it, and the "Sharp Objects" are the harsh screams that "cut" through the air and hurt people's ears, so to speak. "it's our time to shine through the down glorified by what is ours" This is talking about them just...getting through shit. It's their time to shine, their time to feel good about themselves and their music, their time to just rock out loud. "today i fell and felt better just knowing this matters, i just feel stronger.. and sharper! i found a box of sharp objects, what a beautiful thing" Basically, saying that even if you fall down, or make a mistake, get the fuck up and learn from it. Again, a reference to the title, and their unique style. "do you want a song of glory? well i'm fucking screaming at you" A message to their neighbood, that rejected their music and banned them from playing live shows. I take it as screaming "what did you expect? get over it, I don't give a rat's ass." That's my take on it, anyway. |

I think the meaning is kind of obvious: two people in a relationship, one gets bored with it, the other is pretty much talking to himself because she's not paying attention. I'd have to say that I agree with LifeFadingAway, in that when your friends betray you, you just want them to die a horrible, horrible death. And as for Christianrockergirl's question: I'm almost positive that they AREN'T Satanic or Anti-christian, though they do have a pentagram on their site. I believe that the use of the symbol is just part of their "darker" look and style, it doesn't mean anything really. |

This is easily one of my favorite LAM songs. To me, it means this: There's this person, and they're just so confining to the singer, and all the singer can do is scream and take the pain. The person takes pleasure in the singer's pain, and are empty inside because the singer's pain is all they have. |
