| It's hard to comment on any songs that you dont 'understand.' I suppose you could say how much you love their music and all, but commenting on the meaning of the song is a difficult task to tackle without english translations. | |

Although you two are correct about the "hex on exxon" part... there are other topics he talks about in this song some particulars are monks setting themselves on fire in protest (a picture of this is on one of the rage against the machine covers!) "melted prophets" Another topic is the book burnings that took place in germany, and other parts of the world..another form of protest. Yes, SP has indeed been an active enviromentalist group.. but theyve also been quite political (though, i suppose the two do coincide with eachother) |

| Hmm..i totally got a different reading. I think this is more about any group/organization that practices something similiar to masogyny...wherein they "circumsize" the women...so that they cannot have pleasure. There are many societies to this day that still think poorly about women...and i think they are confronting this issue. | |

Well..judging from their other songs (like Coward, which begins with the Pledge)...i think this song refers to the gorvernment. "Our original ideals, you let us down And betrayed our trust with all your promises" It could be about a relationship, but i think these two sentences are a key to my interpretation. |
