This song seems to be about one of the people wanting out of the relationship, but the other person still sees the positive sides of the relationship...and maybe even wants to hold onto it...but because the other person is no longer concerned, they have to forget about the past. It seems like the person saw it coming on because he says,"and in the morning, I saw the gaze, it wasn't a comfort." We've all been in relationships where we know the other person just doesn't want to be there anymore...and it rips you apart. The only way to move on is to forget....which is easier said than done. |

I am a huge fan of Collective Soul. The first time I heard this song, I loved it instantly...but when I really listened to the lyrics...I saw how greatly it related to relationships that I've been in in the past, and loved it even more. There is so much truth in this song. It's about somebody denying love because he or she does not want to see it. Often this also hurts the person who is being denied. Therefore, how do you love? |
