| Morrissey – Let Me Kiss You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Well, this song is really sad. I do not understand how such a handsome devil as Morrissey is able to be so self-deprecating! He is gorgeous! | |
| The Smiths – Cemetry Gates Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Well, I forgot to say that I find this song really cute! I read the lyrics and I thought the song was a sad tune, but when I listened to it, I got really enchanted by the cheery way he sings and the melody too. It is a light song even though he is talking about a "nice" promenade at a cemetery! Well, cemeteries are sad! Only gothics like it... And Morrissey too! | |

I think he is mocking, since the song tells about getting quotes from others and whatever, he creates new words, new ways of writing (cemetry, cemetary) and pronounce (plagiarise) in order to create something of his own. "You say: "ere long done do does did" words which could only be your own and then you then produce the text..." I got that you claim that you experienced things in your life (you do, did...), that you thought they were only yours, but it is not because lots of people go through the same! It's like plagiarise lives. |

| The Smiths – Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| After listening to it for the 101º time (I am a new Smiths fan) It sounded like a prayer! He repeats "Please" lots of times, as if he were begging for a chance, as it could be his last in a lifetime. Fantastic! Thouchs deeply! | |
| The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
When I first paid attention to this song, I saw me. Well, I think lots of people go through this. This songs is for humans, it does not restrict ages, 'cause everybody wants to be loved. It does not reaaly matter how old they are. |

| The Smiths – Half a Person Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
One of the most fantastic verses in this song: I've spent six years on your trail Six full years of my life on your trail And if you have five seconds to spare Then I'll tell you the story of my life: He spends 6 full years obsessed with a person and asks back only 5 seconds from her! This is fantastic! This is Morrissey!!!! |

| Placebo – Protege Moi Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The correct is " La fête est finie" 'cause the verb "finir" (to finish) asks for the auxiliary être (to be) to form the past (passé composé). Even if he had made a mistake of grammar, singing "la fête a fini" it would mean the same! (I speak french) | |
| Placebo – Protect Me From What I Want Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I agree with poison girl13 and Edenfer! This is about a person that during their youth do not care about having a relationship, kids, whatever, but when age comes, and it cames really fast, he realizes that life has passed him by. And it was made of drinking, drugging, one night stands... Worthless. He cannot even stands his own house. Try to listen to the french version 'cause it is more beautifil and has more details to understand the song. | |
| Placebo – Twenty Years Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| He analyses the past and make wishes for the 20 years that come ahead. I can hardly help crying when I listen to this song or watch the video. It's touching. At the same time that he speaks about past situations and there are sad memories, he gives a message of hope and tell us to "enjoy the ride" and do it as best as we can. | |
| Placebo – Bigmouth Strikes Again (The Smiths cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I agree totally with raccoon! I love Placebo, and I lover this new version of "Bigmouth" but The Smiths is unbeatable! | |
| The Smiths – Pretty Girls Make Graves Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think is a guy who is being chased by a woman that only wants sex. End of the pier, end of the bay You tug my arm, and say : "Give in to lust, Give up to lust, oh heaven knows we'll Soon be dust ... I think in this verses the girl is trying to convice him to have sex with her w/o worrying about feelings, just take advantage of the oportunity and he refuses because he is not a man like that. Sensitive Moz!!! |

| The Smiths – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Well, I love this song but I can hardly listen to it... It always brings me to tears... I think that what he means with the verse: "there is a light that never goes out" is: true love never fades. |

| The Smiths – Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Sometimes we cannot reckon a song's meaning. When all of a sudden we go through a situation and we listen to a certain song we can understand it perfectly. We drink and get happy for a moment, when the effect of alcohol is over, the "happiness" goes away. So we start analysing our life to check what's wrong, in his case he thought he needed a job when he got it he realized it was not what he needed. It just made him more miserable. He just reaches the answer when he sees the "lovers passing him by". As he tries to get rid of his misery he gives his time to people who don't care and will NEVER care about him. He does it aiming to find someone who cares. | |
