The whole of Whoracle is story of the end of the world. It starts with Jotun in which someone premonizes this end - seeing it in dreams. i.e. "i often dream of..." "and when i wake up i imagine..." "There would be colonies..." See? It is not happening yet but is a warning of things to come. The story is built upon by each song until we reach Episode 666. Now the apocalypse is happenning everywhere. "the squirrel-wheel begins". But everyone is refusing to see what is happening "Remember not to think too much and your trip will be numbingly pleasant " "Non-caring is the easiest way" Instead what do they do? Sit there and watch the coverage on the news! "This is episode 666 destination chaos" They sit there watching as if it were not real, and yet they are all a big part of this, even though they refuse to see it "Each and all an actor blind" EACH and ALL and actor - everyone is involved. "Their dead-smile lips turn on their TV while urban gravestones scrape the skies Rising over marionette cities and marionette skies" This is another reference back to Jotun. Remember the 22-kilometre tombstone? Now it's real, not one, but thousands, scraping the skies. |

It's.. If you could be the things I need. I'll crawl through knives an inch per tear. (not year) These knees, they bleed for you. Let the colour persuate the hate that you fear. That is straight from the booklet that comes with the cd. I see this as how Anders felt while writing the new album. It's his vocals that have taken the most criticism over the past 2 albums so he sees that its for him 'to decide' how this album was going to turn out. The flames reaching heaven is like a metaphor for failing. |
