Gorillaz – Rhinestone Eyes Lyrics 15 years ago
To me, the song is about how "plastic" is taking over things that are familiar to us. Rhinestones are really pretty, but they're cheap, manufactured versions of the real, natural, thing. The verse "We're future pixels in factories far away" seems to be about how humans themselves are becoming insignificant (a single pixel is pretty insignificant) as our bodies become filled with all things manufactured...manufactured food, manufactured body parts, etc.

Vertical Horizon – Save Me From Myself Lyrics 16 years ago
It seems to me that the focus of this song is the absolutely pessimistic world view of the singer. The song opens with two stories that have an unhappy beginning, but at the end of the song those two stories are resolved with happy endings. The third story is his own story ("The bullet in the yard...It's all just cinder") and is not resolved with a happy ending by the end of the song. As a result, he's now discouraged and cynical...haunted by the happy endings that he could not claim as his own.

Gorillaz – DARE Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm pretty sure this song is NOT about masturbation or anything sexual. It would be pretty pervy to have a 15 year old girl singing about masturbation, even though she is a fictional character.

Anyway, I think the song has more to do about facing fears. The video is very reminiscent of horror films - dark, creepy setting and the giant heat kept alive by machinery in Noodle's closet, not to mention the "Ringu" reference at the very end. The lyrics make me think of someone sitting in a horror film, jumping every time the creature shows itself.

That's how I see it anyway.

Vertical Horizon – Underwater Lyrics 20 years ago
It's about being at that point in your life when can't seem to keep your head above water. You're in a haze, and you're literally drowning. After a while, you may stop struggling, and accept the misfortune you've been dealt ("It's not so bad down here, underwater, Once you get past the fear, underwater"). However, the song reminds us that there is always someone or something to rescue us. No matter how bad the situation, don't give up....your life will be saved.
