PERSEVERANCE... A very different tone than many of PJ's other tunes, as noted by above readers, but also a will to not give up, to not surrender, to renew and refresh what needs it, to put forth the energy for change. It reminds me a little of my love life... "I wanna FIGHT to get it back again!" Dying to hear the rest of this album. |

Damn, Neal Schon can play guitar. The opening lines always remind me of the movie "Risky Business" (girl and boy on a TRAIN). I've never gotten to do it on a train, but I think everyone else has...well, at least Steve Perry. I'm jealous. I think the song is about trying to find true love, trying to find "the one," especially in a rough, urban environment (Detroit, "smoky" crappy bars, the boulevard, TRAINS). Don't lose hope, but avoid those treacherous streetlight people. They'll abduct you. Or take advantage of you on a train. |

Wow, I always thought of something entirely different...An antisocial individual, possibly psychotic, who can only relate to TV personalities as his "friends." In the course of his imaginary relationships, he falls in love with a TV character. (2nd verse) Although he feels like he has an authentic relationship, he can only see her when she's on the TV.
