Mellville "Moby Dick" Was not very well recieved and was considered the book which began his decline in popularity. He died,well off, but mostly forgotten. Moby Dick was redicovered on the 20th century and is now considered one of the greatest novels ever written. Fortunatly for Mastodon this album worked in a big way. Think of it,four men who all agreed to compose a album based on Moby Dick. And they made it work in na astounding fashion. I have seen them five times now and they are at the pinnacle of the Melatdom. Great work of art by a great band. Blood MT. is equally as amazing. |

I saw them perform this song live at the Rosemont Horizon in Suburban Chicago during the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. For those who have never had the chance to see Floyd live , you have not lived. Gilmore used a peddal steel guitar on this song and when the pig flew out the building shook from the crowds response. Or maybe it was the base,I will never know which. It was an awesome concert moment |

Compared to todays racist rap garbage this is mild. This one never got much air time and probaly never will. It is a parody of "whiggers", a term that was not even around at the time this one was written. The Whole album "Street Hassle",on which this song made it's debut was a dark,angst filled LP. one of my Lou Reed favorites. The wannabes get the reeming they deserve on this one. And oh, by the way on the Lp "Take No Prisoners" Lou has black female back up singers on this song and they are laughing all through the song. |
