The Magnetic Fields – Long Vermont Roads Lyrics 19 years ago
Fantastic song.

I'd just like to point out that in the line "and your eyes are Kansas City/in Kansis and in Missouri", the last word is altered a bit so it sounds like "misery", thereby making this one of the best written songs of all-time.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm pretty sure the line "talking blue/the same issue" is actually supposed to be "talking blue/the same old sheep". I know it sounds crazy but I'm quite confident that's it (maybe it's in the liners, though).

Anyway, that being said I think the first verse of the song is a pretty accurate representation of living in the country. Typically there are a lot of seniors and most of them share the same opinions on a lot of issues. I think the song is from the perspective of a younger person who is striving to move away from this area.

So the guy moves to the big city but he ultimately finds that isn't for him either. At the end of the song, the listener is left without closure as the singer admits the properties of his own psyche are as mysterious to him as "the waves out in the ocean" (which of course aren't that mysterious, but growing up in the country you don't always get a great education).

Just my two cents, I'm sorry I'm not concise. :-(

of Montreal – Requiem for O.M.M.2 Lyrics 20 years ago
Could the title be a requiem for "Of Montreal Mark II"? This is, according to purists, the second phase of the band, which might indicate that the Sunlandic Twins was meant to usher in a new version of Of Montreal. Just my guess.
