this reminds me of Matthew Arnold's poem "Dover Beach," which is basically a man and his lover on a cliff looking out at the beautiful world. then in the end he says, since there's no hope, or God, or comfort, we should be together. you can see it in the last verse and chorus. the moon is just a "glowing ball of rock" and "there's nothing left except certain death." he goes out and looks at the sky and heavens to try to find divinity or a hint of God, but all he can see is his "two feet on the ground." meaning, there's no God. along with "(version)," this is my favorite Mic song. and i can imagine why it's so personal. |

i can't see why this song would make someone laugh. i guess it's kinda funny but funny enough to crack your shit up? i think it just compares these shitty death situations to your heart drying up. like the last second when your in a plane or boat or a falling building and you're just like "wow. this is definitely happening and i'm done for." (least that's what we might think someone in that situation would think. i was in a car accident a year back. it ended okay but it could have been bad. during the whole thing i only thought something like "wow. this is a car accident. could be bad." but i was calm and ready to go. maybe that's comparable to when your heart has no more to give and your numb and careless. basically that moment when you say "Fuck It" because there's nothing you can do to stop it. |
