just downloaded a couple dozen of his songs or so, and this is so far the best. i can't describe why because i haven't gotten his key points i like down into proper syntax yet, but it just flows and totally satisfies me emotionally.
instead of just writing personal anecdotes i'll actually follow the guidelines for this site in the first place. and with that being said..
the firsthalf, to me, sounds like a kind of an empty, lost path fo thought that's he's slipped into because of recent break up swift change ofsurroundings or feelings or whatever, and he recognizes this but does nothing to apprently change it, while making clear to point out to whoever he's speaking to that they shouldn't worry about him (like it was partly of their concern and fault)
and the second part seems like he admits however briefly that he is stuck in this sort of melancholy state and makes futile efforts to get out of it and have a little passion towards something in his life again.
i don't know. i wish there were more comments to reflect on. |

that second paragraph.. god, it gets me everytime. i wish there was a screaming-more-throaty version, but the original does just fine. i love tom gabel, he is glorious. |

same as my comment on Alive with the Glory of Love, there's always a boy to fit these songs. he is helping me get trhough a difficult time in my life, when he's not busy selling coke, and i am grateful for that. (and this song.) |

i have a really long, beautiful infatuation about this song.
so i've been grounded. for about two months. and this boy i've been snekaing out wiht sends me snippet sof this song in texts rather often. i am his bonnie and he is my clyde. i am the belle to his serbastian. and i told him im on the holocaust diet (lots of soup) and so we always play up the nazi camp story, how was the soup today, the factory was rather cold, etc. and i love this song for it. and it describes my situation perfectly. |

in repsonse to my last message, i found a bio the singer wrote on yahoo music profile and he said this, sort-of clarifying what i mentioned earlier.
"We decided to record the songs for the "rock opera" first and then record the plot between the songs with speaking parts and a full cast of our friends. However, the process of playing all the instruments except for drums and singing all day turned into such an intense, draining process that I ended up wandering the streets of Brooklyn in a psychotic daze and getting thrown into the loony bin for two weeks.
Needless to say, that sucked, so we parted with the idea of the "plot" portion of the record and decided we could make a much more concise record if we focused on just the music; after all, the songs told the story themselves. So Tim O'Heir (produced Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr., Superdrag) and Stephen Trask (wrote the songs for/produced Hedwig & The Angry Inch) helped me create a debut record (entitled Say Anything … Is A Real Boy) that I am truly proud of. It may even cure cancer. As for Coby and I, we, as well as new Say Anything members Casper Adams (ex-National Acrobat, guitar) and Kevin Seaton (ex-Everybody Else, bass) will be coming to your town with the hopes of kissing you all over your neck until you can't take it anymore and finish quite early.
