this describes perfectly what i'm going through right now kinda different, but it applies to my situation too a long relationship that has been off and on for years and then when we talk, even though he is with someone else, we get back into eachoter so quickly, sometimes we both wish we could move on, but we can't we tell eachother we dont mean what we said because it helps us not hurt as much |

this song is amazing and completely catchy. this song, to me is about the difficult lives people can go through and how people deal with losses differently. at the beginning the three children are content and happy on the "beach", ready to live life and soak up wisdom, it goes on to describe what kind of people these children are, veronica is the curious, but nervous one, she's watching the waves, these waves could be metaphoric of some swelling issues in life and how they are about the break, the fact that the waves are whitecapping can show some ferociousness or something feirce about to change these children, Vada is the younger sister, who is still young enough to be clueless and her lack of interst in boys is a relief, then there is Dade, he is older than veronica and knows more of life, he has been hurt and contemplates life and why things happen, the mother is herself hurting and has been hurt in love and is skeptical and so she tells her children it is not real in the next stanza, the children have grown up some and time has passed, veronica is more grown up and is wishing for love and everything vada is in veronica's shadow dade is still the thinker and now we learn that they had a father who left them you see now that veronica is dealing wtih the loss by throwing herself into life, living in fantasies and looking for a boy vada was too young to be deeply effected but looks up to her sister, but also resents her, dade's life has been most effected, he is the thinker and so the thinker thinks. this topic consumes him and he can't find the answer their mother had been mistreated by her ex-husband and so she is trying to move on with her own life, and her focus turns off of her children, they all go and mess up their own lives because they do no have the guidance they need. they may have taken her advice and "live for the moment", too much and been caught up and so things happen, this song is over all about dealing with loss and how a child is influenceable.. an amazing song |
