| Lana Del Rey – Off to the Races Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| She also has a song called Lolita but I have no idea what it sounds like or specifically what it's about because the album isn't out just yet. But we can all tell she must really have found the book to be enthralling. | |

| Dir En Grey – Embryo (English) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| it's a song of awareness to situations like these. I think too many people are thinking Dir En Grey wrote this for entertainment purposes or something...no. they believe it's disgusting and they want people to take heed to situations like this, instead of ignoring the fact that they happen | |
| Patrick Wolf – Who Will Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
this may or may not be what patrick meant for it to be, but i always take it as a song of appreciation to people like nurses, firefighters, and good hearted policemen. "who will penetrate the tightening mucle" makes me think of those nurses in the war who have to give shots or to screaming, tense soldiers. and "who will cut across the thickening skin" reminds me of the same situation, only surgical. that is just a short explanation of how i feel about it. who will be that person to endure the pain with you, who will pull you out of ashes. |

| Oingo Boingo – Private Life Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I interpret this to be about introverts. It's from the mind of an introvert (not necessarily Danny, but perhaps the narrative character of the song) who is half-happy with his lifestyle and half-depressed. Though he loves his privacy, how everything is orderly, how all secrets are stashed away, and whatnot, he feels trapped. There is a part of himself that wants to know what goes on outside of his comfortable bubble, but has a fear of just being as invisible outside of his room as he is to the world when he's inside of it. I relate to this song on many levels |

| Imogen Heap – First Train Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i smile inside every single time i hear the lines "the urge to feel your face in blood rushing to paint my hand-print". what a creative way to say "i want to slap the crap out of you, you obnoxious nitwit" LOLOLOL i also really love how she uses the words "the clocks are barely breathing" meaning that time is passing really slow. she is a genius with her use of words this is such a relatable song.we've all had those days where we're stuck somewhere we don't want to be. We become irritable, everyone there annoys the crap out of us, and we can't wait to get home. Immi is a genius. I hope I can meet her or at least see her live some day |

| Ludo – The Horror Of Our Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I know that this is not how Ludo meant this song, but this is my personal minimovie of the song. Whenever i listen to this song, this is the line of events that happen (earliest of the Victorian era) a psychopathic vampire is in love with a woman who has been evading his contact. he kills the whole city to get all the people out of the way of him getting her. the whole thing is he basically trying to escape and eventually he chases her onto a beach where he drinks her dead. To him, it was an act of ultimate love (in his complete lunacy) to have consumed her. She returns as a ghost, like explained in the song, and he meets her on the water where she grabs him and forces him underwater, all the way to the ocean floor and kills him. In my mind, you dont see it cus they're at the bottom of the ocean, where there is no light. but the ocean fills with blood..."never so much blood" so yea. that's the little movie that goes on in my head when i listen to this song. |

this is one of the most relatable songs for me on top of that, it's such a beautiful, out-of-body-experience type song |

| David Bowie – Five Years Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Can someone PLEASE explain the line "A soldier with a broken arm Fixed his stare to the wheels of a Cadillac" i'm a smart person and have delved into all the messages in this song and everything but i just cannot figure that line out. me and my boyfriend discussed this and i said perhaps he's depressed because he's wounded from war and can't do tasks that used to be simple to him, like changing a tire. My boyfriend thinks that he's depressed about life and his wounds and just kinda zones out on a random object that just so happened to be the wheels of a Cadillac. both make sense to me but i dont know if either is what Bowie was trying to say in this line. help me out, please. oh and if someone already addressed this, i'm sorry that i missed it. this song has 41 comments and i skimmed through so many and could not find anyone singling this line out. |

| David Bowie – Five Years Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| agreed. the "warehouse" analogy was not an analogy to Noah's Arc. it was conveying the idea of how someone feels when a whole lot of heavy, hard to believe information is loaded onto them at one time. it's hard to make yourself comprehend it and that's what he meant with the warehouse analogy. | |
| Imogen Heap – Half Life Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
this song.....*sigh* so gorgeous and meaningful. i can relate when it comes to my insecurities, though often my insecurities come from my imagination and not what is really going on. but this is one of those songs that make me feel like the notes can take form and lift me into the air and allow me to glide as i meditate. |

| Hannah Fury – The Vampire Waltz Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
well i think the meaning of the song is obvious, but i enjoy explaining what i've taken from the song anyway :D so i'm guessing this must be the Victorian era or earlier because i interpret this as a girl who was forced into a miserable marriage, as was often the case in those days, and wants an escape. so it's her wedding day. seems to me that they already said their vows and now it's the reception and in the distance, she can see fangyboy beckoning. she's miserable and hates what she just did, vowing herself to someone she doesn't love, so she comes to him where he lures her in and tells her pretty things such as "you'll never grow old if you join me" and probably other things not mentioned in the song. she's enthralled and lets him take her. she's no longer pure and no longer dressed in white. in my imagination, she is now going to wed this vampire and she all of a sudden is in a different dress and her bride's bouquet has a mandrake. i imagine everything around her changing, including atmosphere. things are becoming frightening. she now realizes what she's done, hence the line "i think i've been fooled" and she's realizing she pledged herself to this powerful being and things are not as pretty as they once seemed. she's scared and having 2nd thoughts....but it's too late. but at the same time, she would never want to go back to what was waiting for her before this mysterious man came. so it seems she's torn between wanting to be away from the old life but at the same time, still fearing her new life. but it doesn't matter anyway. she's past the point of no return. now she's dependent on this vampire and "need[s him] near [her]" and still has a bit of optimism about this enchanting but fearsome situation |

| Oingo Boingo – Not My Slave Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i think its about two people in love. he's saying you belong to me as a life partner but you'r not my slave. i wont ask you to worship me, i wont keep you in a cage. you are your own person and i belong to you too, as a life partner. we belong to each other but give each other the air and freedom humans need to be happy. he's basically saying "i dont follow those rediculous sexist beliefs that you have to succumb to me and crap". he's saying you're a human being and i love you and want you to be free. |

| Mayday Parade – Miserable at Best Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
whenever i listen to this, i dont think of a gf cheating it sounds to me like they are a newly broken-up couple and she's already kind of moing on but she wants to hide that from him in order not to hurt him and he's like "lets not pretend" and he's reminiscing about them together. one reason i really think she's not cheating is cus of the line "i miss the lips that made me fly" cus it sets it up to seem that he's already been without her, seeing that he misses kissing her. but that also could be that they're far apart from each other but i dunno. i just dont get the vibe that she's cheating. cus he's being conforting by saying "katie dont cry" cus he doesn't want her to hurt. cus sometimes even when a person breaks up with someone, it doesn't mean they're over them. they may have left them cus they know it's best situation-wise and things of the sort. anyone agree with me? |

| Priscilla Hernandez – I'm Right Here Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
considering that Hernandez themes all of her music around mythical things such as fairies, whenever i hear this song i think of the scenerio that this is narrated by a nymph or some kind of fairy folk lady that is in love with a human somehow but the human cant see her or feel her and this is heartbreaking to her the fact that she says "you may curse your soul if you deny me" makes me feel like a spell has been cast where she can see him at night when he's sleeping but if he denies her, he curses his soul. it makes me think of the little mermaid. maybe this fairy or nymph made a deal with some kind of witch but if she cant win his love, the witch gains control his soul or curses it. it's just what i feel she speaks of how brave she is to love whoever she loves. it makes me feel that maybe its because she's in love with a human and that is not only frowned upon by her people, but almost impossible because of the two different worlds they live in and since she's of another world, he cant see her and this hurts her and that is why she says she's brave because even though there's that barrier, she still visits him and loves him, regardless of the emotional danger she puts herself in. but since she says "how could you feel it" "how could you see me" it leads me to believe that maybe he does realize her presence but it's hazy to him. maybe she's just a flicker of light to him or evanescent? so she wants to make him aware that she is there for him and sings this song in hopes of him hearing her and feeling that reassurance that she is there. but at the same time, she gets no reaction from him. so she feels a bit of loving frustration because she's like "what the heck, dude? are you deaf ? i'm talking to you? are you blind? i'm flippin right here! or do you see and hear me just fine and you're just heartless leaving me here to love you while you ignore me?" and she expresses this in her song. she doesn't want him to be afraid of her. and at the same time, she wants to save him from the apparant danger his soul is in that, ironically, she probably brought upon him. and now it's time for her to leave back to where she belongs and tells him "just imagine i am right here" ~~~~~~~~~~~ of course i could be completely off from what Priscilla meant in the song. but that's the beauty of things such as songs and poetry: it's up to the listener/reader to take it how they want and this is what this song seems to be about to me |

| Emilie Autumn – Ghost (Poem) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
i agree with kinderbell i also have a feeling that the poem might be about a girl who is actually insane. cus notice that when she's alone, she believes he's there. but when she's around other people, he's not. like when he doesn't cut in when she dances with other men and wont help her out when someone is boring her with conversation. it makes me think that since the ghost never disturbs what's really happening, that when she believes he's there it is very likely her fanastical imagination. |

| Oingo Boingo – Nasty Habits Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
eww......oingo boingo always confuses me. i love and admire most of their work but then they have stuff like this. i cant tell what he's trying to get across here. is he just proudly announcing he masterbates and other people do too or is he downtalking "nasty habits"? i hope he's not just announcing what he does alone. i think masturbation is disturbing and dishonorable. at least when porn is involved. yay now i'm gonna get flamed |

| Blessthefall – Guys Like You Make Us Look Bad Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| maybe this is incorrect, but i always took this song as being about a guy remorsing over a girl getting raped. the words "you scream dont lok please god dont touch" really imply that in my oppinion. and the words "and every time i think about ur voice i start to tremble" i dunno makes me think of how the thought of an innocent girl getting abused makes him shutter disgustedly and the sound of her voice reminds him. this is how i take the song. it's such a powerful song and truthful. | |
| Evanescence – Breathe No More Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i agree with the split personality thing. it seems like she's narrating for the emotion that the person she loves loves one side of her but maybe not the other? dunno......that's just kinda wut i think about it. | |
| Nightwish – The Phantom Of The Opera Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Why are yall complaining about Marco??The whole point of them doing a version of this song was to do a *metal* version of it therefore it's generally understood that the phantom's voice would be gruff.I love it.Both metal and original versions are awesome.I love how at the end of nightwish's version while all the guitars are going on & stuff, you can hear Marco's maniacal & haunting laughter in the back ground.i love it so much. | |
