They Might Be Giants – Destination Moon Lyrics 19 years ago
one cant help but wonder if some of this song was based on discorporate by frank zappa, since they essentially cover the same idea. also another notable zappa crossover is the fact he wrote a song called "Concentration moon" coincedence? probably. but still a remarkable one to say the least.

Bullets and Octane – Pirates Lyrics 19 years ago
IF I had to pitchs a guess I would say this song is about a man who is in love with a woman whose career would take her away from him, and too stay with her he must quit his job and be unorthodox to keep her. In other words he is risking his life to share it with hers. or it could be about some pirates how the hell should I know?!

Drain STH – Ace Of Spades Lyrics 19 years ago
this is actually an AWESOME cover oif an already great Motorhead song.

As best as I can figure it gambling is being used as a metaphor for how his life will play out. He sets out to get as much out of life as he can so he goes under the assumption he will attain the things he needs most which is the metaphor that the ace of spade represents. And he knows that odds are against him of getting the things he needs most, and that in the end he will probably fail to attain them, but in the end he still wins for having tried in life in the first place and no one can take that from him.

....or it could just be a simple poker game, heh.

Green Jelly – The Bear Song Lyrics 20 years ago
its a song about an old cliche'
The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see the other side of the mountain was all he could see. Its a cliche used to imply useless repetition.

They Might Be Giants – Man, It's So Loud in Here Lyrics 20 years ago
Its about mall stores. Think about it you walk into an abercombie or a hollister store or even hot topic and its cramped with clothes and stuff with loud music blaring. And in stores like those you cant tell who the employees are and who the customers are cause theyre all dressed the same.

They Might Be Giants – Minimum Wage Lyrics 20 years ago
this ones pretty simple too me....

think about it...the less people are paid the harder the job actually is. Honestly when is the last time you heard a CEO complaining about his feet and back hurting? The less you make the more you ache.

They Might Be Giants – Spider Lyrics 20 years ago
I always loooked at it from the arachnid standpoint, we dont like spiders, they tend to frighten us, so out of some sort of reflex we usually try to kill them, but spiders are the ones that keep the populations of other far mor harmful insects in check so its usually advisabel not to kill them, since 99% of the time they will live people alone and dont even eat our food. Besides we all know its bad luck to kill a spider.

They Might Be Giants – Hearing Aid Lyrics 20 years ago
I always interpreted this to mean that a gentleman just stopped listening to people because he was sick of everything they were saying and this ended up alienating him from everyone else, and he wants nothing to do with them.

They Might Be Giants – Ana Ng Lyrics 20 years ago
Your also missing a big component. Lest we Forget that Ana'Ng was the name of the girl that social workers found locked in a closet and given no social contact for the first 15 years of her life. hence the lyric "Listen Ana hear my words
They're the ones you would think I would say if there was a me for you" and as history indicates...Ana couldnt talk or understand language.

Rammstein – Amerika Lyrics 20 years ago
See I dont interpret this as Anti-American in the least. Its more of simply calling a situation the way it is. Look at the metaphors for a second... Music is coming from the weissen Haus (white house) And then discussing how everyone has to dance to the music and if you cant do it well we will show you how to do so. this metaphor stems from the cliche' "He who plays the music sets the pace of the dance" You will also notice that the lyric is "SOMETIMES war" NOT "always war" and lets face it, sometimes we war, hell who doesnt war sometimes. The take home message is that Amerika is a wonderful place, and we also are a very pawerful nation, so powerful our cultural icons (Cocacola, wonderbra, mickey mouse) have spread around the world and serve as a reminder that America is more powerful than any other nation on earth at the moment. Being powerful isnt a bad thing, its just that the signs of the USA are everywhere. Its not a compliment, nor is it detrimental. Its simply calling a situation the way it is. and frankly this song makes me laugh my arse off.
