A little bit of syphilis in the sun, A little bit of herpes in my bum, A little gonorrhea's all I see, Everyday it sure does hurt to pee |

| I don't know what it's about more specifically, but it definitely sounds to me that it's about a pair of siblings. | |

I love this interpretation. Not all songs that involve the idea of love have to be about relationships. For a song with this much depth and intensity, I think it sullies the concept to apply it to a simple relationship between two people. To me, it seems obvious that the idea of this song transcends that. |

| This song makes me think of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Probably how Ford felt, stranded on earth. Plus there's the bit about the meaning of life. ;) | |

| Neil Young – Down By The River Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I've definitely always thought this song was about a horse. She's the singer's beloved horse and he loves her, and she gets sick or injured and he has to lead her down to the river to put her out of her misery, and it hurts him to do it. Never looked into it any deeper than that, but I don't really see the heroin reference other than the term 'horse' being a euphemism for the drug. |

This song is going on their new album, right? In that case, I don't think the official lyrics have been released and I think that the line "And how most are shifting like a chameleon" should be "And her masks are shifting like a chameleon," which sounds better and makes more sense to me. "She" is downtown, the same "she" who breaks his fall and his heart. I think this song is about the city, the nightlife, and getting lost in the excitement and fast-paced lifestyle of it. I like this song. Not my favorite, not profound, but still pretty good. |

This song gives me goosebumps. Usually I feel silly saying that a song "speaks to me," but there's no other way to describe Blackout. I like the interpretation that it has to do with the fear of death at a young age, and facing one's own mortality, especially as an atheist. |

Actually, this song struck me as having religious meaning as well, but from the other direction. To me, it sounds like the singer is angry with God and venting at him in the song. "Your golden lies feed my role." He feels that God has promised him things and has told him lies that he realizes will never be. "Who's returned from the dead? Who remains?" Possibly a reference to Jesus? Not sure though. "You know i don't want you and I never did. I don't want you and i never will." The singer utterly rejects the concept of God and all he stands for. "You wanted for more than i was worth." Religion expects humans to strive for perfection, even though by nature and as finite creatures it's an obvious impossibility. "And you think i was scared, and you needed proof." God likes to use fear to cause humans to submit (think Old Testament here). Just my thoughts; feel free to disagree. |
