| Elliott Smith – Oh Well, Okay Lyrics

A beautiful thing about Elliott's writing is that he sometimes puts the message kind of through a funnel, using imagery at first, and by the end of the song just kind of coming clean, and saying what he means.
I don't think there's any real underlying meaning that needs to complicate it. The only real technique is the photograph imagery for the first two verses. The musical additions throughout the song (cello during second verse, vocal melodies at the end) is what really makes this so special. |

I didn't like this song as a reference to "Kinsella." However, it is going really well as a sarcastic look at "bad influences" that I have experienced first hand. People are judgemental, and seeing this song as a giant outpouring of sarcasm makes it twice as good to me. |

What a joke. This song is terrible. And there is no meaning behind it other than the ignorant stereotypes they blatantly throw out there. Two thumbs DOWN. |

When I think about this song, I think of school. I see it as just a factory of students; everyone doing the same things they are taught. We're not worth a thing to them. They're just trying to produce successful people so they look good. I don't know; I really relate to this song in quite a few ways. It's one of my all-time favorites for sure. |

I don't know if this is on purpose or what, but I got a little play-on-words out of it. MISSISsippi, MRS...on HER knees. It probably looks stupid on paper but whatever. It's a great song. |
