"Liberalism is too broad to say it's like NAZIism, since it is really anything that is different." - Chard121 I never said they were the same. I said "..nazi's and fascist parties were liberal parties..". That is a fact. Not an opinion. That doesnt mean that all liberal's were nazis or fascits. To be a fascit, nazi, socialist, or communist, you have to be a liberal. Get the difference? They are all different extremes (well fascists and nazis were almost the same barring the government control on domestic vs. international business) in the same sphere. If your confused about nazi's and socialism then consider that A) NAZI stands for National Socialism and B) the proper name for the party was National Socialist German Workers Party. My point was that all nazi's and fascists were socialists and all socialists are liberal. You imply that what I said is the same thing as saying all conservatives are republicans. Thats not true because I'm a strong conservative but I'm not a republican. However you have to be a conservative to be a republican. I'm an objectivist. Republicans are way to liberal for me. As for your comment on patriotism being silly, I just dont understand it. Patriotism is not "fighting for your country". It's to be concerned with your country. If you really feel that being concerned or involved with your country is a silly thing then that's your business, but I hope you never end up in public office. |

Of course those of you that keep bringing up the nuke's fail to say who did it. The war loving democrats. In fact, most of the wars that the U.S. has been involved in have been run by the democrats. WWI and WWII are good picks as well as Koera and Vietnam. If I remember correctly it was Nixon (republican) that ended the war in Vietnam. Not Johnson (democrat) who started it along with Kennedy. In fact, the few wars that we've been in that are under republican leadership have been about liberation. Anybody remember the civilwar? Same with Iraq and Afghanistan. Did we wipe them out. No. We took both countries whole and let them make their own government. Are the majority of the fallen enemy's civillian. Nope. They were people that raised arms against us. Did we do anything to the people of Afghanistan before 9/11 that would warrent over 3000 people killed and over 60 billion dollars in collateral damage. I'll answer that one for you. No. Has the U.S. done as Mr. Schaffer puts it "done a hundred times more good for other countries around the world than anybody else ever has"? Well look at everything we have done for aid in other countries. Consider things like the Berlin airdrop. How about the tsunami fund. The U.S. alone gave more than 4X the ammount in aid compared to the rest of the world and the U.N. put together. And that was in charity. Not taxed donations. It's really pretty simple the way this story always play's out. Those that disagree with others tend to look for the worst excuse they can to disagree on. It doesnt matter if it has merit or not. Then once said excuse is chosen it is repeated until it seems to be true to the person or persons saying it. Consider this little fact. The liberals like to call conservatives "nazi's" and "fascist". They honestly believe it. When it's pointed out to them that both the nazi's and fascist parties were liberal parties they either get violent or no longer have any words to say about it. Afterall "nazi" is a short term for National Socialist. That's what I mean about believing incorrect statements becomming true to whomever says it. Why people on the left think that anything "patriotic" is garbage I'll never know. I would love to hear a rationaly explantion of just way it's so bad to care about your home country? This song does indeed provoke those kind of feelings and I think it's a thousand times better than some of the more hokier songs like "proud to be an american". Keep in mind I'm not saying that it's a bad song, it's just very hokey sounding. Having seen Iced Earth play this song live, I have to admit that it can be pretty powerful to see a group of hundreds of like minded metal heads sing along with it. Creepy, but cool at the same time. |

I guess you have to be a long time fan of the band to understand there work. Some of you got bits of it right. It goes like this. Man O War brought themselves up by the bootstraps so to speak. They were mistreated by other bands when they started and lables kept passing them by. So they did what few in the music industry can do. They built their status up by producing their own stuff until they were noticed by a lable that stuck with them. Also along the way it been a staple for them to insert little reminders to the other groups that gave them a hard time ( groups like metallica) into their songs. In warriors of the world the remark "I call them out and charge them all, with a life that is a lie" is that reminder. It's also a duel meaning, because it has to fit meaning of the ssong overall. Now we get to the overall meaning of the song. Man O War writes their music to the tune of fantasy warriors. Always has and always will. So there is the setting, but not the meaning. This song was written to back the Iraq coalition. Man O War and several other bands (like Iced Earth), did this from 2002 through 2004. The song (although fantasy in nature) is about standing behind the troops that went to Iraq. Man O War has always been a big backer of the U.S. armed forces and this was a tribute to them and their allies. As a side note, they (along with a few other metal bands) gave permission for the the allies to use this song on PA systems when going into battle. Sounds kinda hokey but the effect is quite good. It seems to really scare the beejesus out of armed resistance when you have a C 130 gun ship strafing you and blaring out warriors of the world at the same time. All you have to do is go to a Man O War concert to hear them speak about it. Personaly because of both the meaning and the sound of it, It's my favorite song of their's. |
