| Joan of Arc – Trial At Orleans Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Great song, but the lyrics seem a little creepy to me. This guy seems to be trying to charm a 17-year-old, making her blush. Then again I suppose it could be innocent if the guy isn't like 50. | |

One correction: "Nobody's wanna freeze over," should be "I know bodies of water freeze over." Seems relatively straight-forward (for a Hold Steady song). "Yeah, sure the stars in the sky But the money's still down on the ground" --It seems like he (whoever that may be, maybe Craig) is talking to someone who is a dreamer, who has their head in the clouds. He is sort of pulling them back to reality -- "You can't tell people what they want to hear if you also want to tell them the truth." The whole "you can't get every girl," philosophy falls in line with that. The analogy to being in the center of a melting lake basically would mean the kid is living in dangerous territory, but I'm not sure about the specifics. |

I also think it's "And I need to take it all / in for a little while" The feeling I get from the song is stronger than the actual words. It seems he is referring to a particular snowstorm, when he stayed inside a played twister - and something significant happened and he had to "take it all in". Not much of an interpretation, just sort of stating the obvious I guess. |

Holy crap, can someone clue me in as to what else I'm missing out on? I just heard this for the first time last night. Meaning seems to be pretty straightforward. Ex is messing with the guy, making sure he knows she is with someone else. Neither one of them is over the other. |

| Silversun Pickups – Future Foe Scenarios Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Pretty abstract lyrics, but does anybody think the "made up of thought balloons and cotton swabs" is a drug reference? The first part of the song kinda sounds like he is describing being with a girl while high/drunk, and at the end he realizes she isn't what he thought "bobby pins hold angel wings." It's either that or something totally different. |

| Jets to Brazil – Chinatown Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I like Tom-o's interpretation, I think the song is about Blake just feeling really different from everybody or from the scene or whatever. I think I remember Blake saying the song is about his cat, but I'm pretty sure that he was not serious. The movie is awesome too. | |
| Jets to Brazil – Crown Of The Valley Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is about Pasedena, and how fucked up living there was for Blake. I could be wrong, but when I hear it I can really visualize what he is talking about. | |
| Jawbreaker – Sluttering (May 4th) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The dress could be another wedding metaphor i.e. hiking the dress around the waste of laughter means that his relationship with the girl was a joke and he feels like an idiot, and then slow dancing with no one could be interpreted as him being alone at their wedding. Even if I'm wrong the song is definatly about his girlfriend cheating on him. | |

Really cool song, if I had to guess the meaning I would say it has something to do with deeply rooted ethnic conflict. "A curse on your houses Rivers run with your sons' blood" and "An insult that dilates forever" These seem to point to some kind of deeply rooted conflict that hasn't been solved over time. I read that Kele's parents are Nigerian, maybe I'm reading into this alot and I could be completely wrong, but Nigeria has alot of ethnic conflict between three major groups, Ibo, Hausau and Yoruba. Its hard to say what BP's songs are about, but this is my guess. |
