I too, think this song is refering to a girl that will just take everything the wrong way. Something small happens and its turned into a major crisis. And this song is like "f*ck, its not that big of a deal." He says "i hate feeling this way and i know you hate it too" so just stop complaining and you'll feel better and i feel better for not hearing about it. |

Ya, this song is pretty witty and cleaver. I don't care if Billy likes it or not, he did create a great melody that people will be singing for awhile.
WHAT I THINK: This song is about a dead end town / a dead end state of mind. Each verse is about someone who believes they are going to be something but certianly will fail in doing so. And in the last verse Billy knows he's gonna make it. He lets he feeling pour out just as the others confideded in previous verses.......so many people are wishing for a better life where they can leave their hometown and get away from the madness but only a few can acually make it, and i think Billy writing this song is proof that if you dont like who you are or where your from, things just may never change. You should be happy with the role you choose to play / Billy joel playing the role of the piano Man |

This song is leaving me hanging in thoughts how Thursday has the potential of becoming just another band that MTV promotes the shit out of. I just saw the video a second ago on MTV2 and now i'm really scared. The demos are great, which got me anticpating the new album, but if Thursday becomes a TRL band I think I may vomit. |

I think this song definatly is about a visioning of being with someone whom he admires from afar.
The last line really makes ya wonder. I don't think it has a real meaning that can be picked apart. I think it's included as the last line because he wants the person to know the song was about them. I'd like to think it has a personal meaning between just those two. |
