| Against Me! – You Look Like I Need a Drink Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is about a guy cheating on his girlfriend and he regrets it in the morning. The girl asks if he is ever coming back, and he realizes how bad he messed up and regrets it desperatly. I don't think he literally killed anyone, or that he killed himself. I think he was just deep in a panicky feeling of regret. | |
| Against Me! – Tonight We're Gonna Give It 35% Lyrics | 20 years ago |

"It's got me on my knees in a bathroom, praying to a god that I don't even believe in, "Dear Jesus... are you listening?" If this is the one chance that really matters, don't let me fuck this up. If you had told me about all this when I was fifteen, I never would have believed it." these lyrics mean a lot to me, though for reasons other than what the song means. I believe that this song is about debating whether or not to continue in the music business. But for me those last lyrics speak to me in a different way. When I was 16 I got pregnant and put my child up for adoption because I couldn't take care of her. It was so unbelivably hard, and so many times I've prayed that I did the right thing...prayed to a god I don't even believe in, on the floor of my bathroom. And it was when I was 15 I started having sex. So, I guess those lyrics just describe everything so perfectly. Against Me!'s music has helped me through so much though, I even named my daughter Evelyn after Pints of Guiness. Does anyone know of a website or a way I could get into contact with members of the band? I just want to tell them how much they have touched me. |

| Against Me! – Pints of Guinness Make You Strong Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Actually, "Emo" is a style of music. Just like pop-punk, hardcore punk, classic rock, rnb, rap, whatever. There is a distintive sound to emo music that sets it apart from other types of music. So it's silly to get angry because someone asks if Against Me! is emo. Yes, most artist put emotion into their music, but emotion doesn't make a song or band emo. To answer Sparkle, no Against Me! is not emo. About this song. It is my absolute favorite song ever. I named my daughter Evelyn because I was so touched by this song. Because of certain situations I am in, I can relate to this song very strongly. This song will always have a place in my heart. Against Me! always pulls through and makes incredible songs. |

| Against Me! – The Disco Before the Breakdown Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I'm surprised no one has commented on this song. I think it is a wonderful song, It's one of my very favorites. It reminds me of Romeo and Juliet, two people in love but unable to show it. The bittersweetness of every stolen moment, knowing that if they are caught it will be their last, yet risking everything for just a few more seconds. | |
| Against Me! – Baby, I'm an Anarchist! Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It's interesting to see so many kids clinging onto the ideals of anarchy, when in fact it would never work. Human nature doens't allow for some form of leadership not to exsist permantly. Leaders and followers always emerge. Whether a formal government is set up or not, one is established. You can not call it a governement as much as you like, that doesn't change what it is. Calling an apple an orange doesn't make it so. At the same time, no form of government will work either. This is a history proven fact. The longest government to last was a 900 year democracy, which like all government in the past and those of the present eventually will, it feel apart. Corruption and greed will always weed their way into the hearts of those with power. It's a lose/lose situation. We desperatly want freedom, but because of human nature freedom isn't possible. Humans discriminate, hate, and are violent. Too many people are unwilling to look at his fellow man in equal eyes. If everyone saw each other as equal, than freedom would be possible. If everyone thought of everyone else as equal, then they wouldn't try to take advantage and control each other. But human nature lets race, gender, and age let some believe they are 'superior'. As wonderful as anarchy sounds (in the sense of those who want it for freedom, peace, love, and universal brotherhood) it just isn't possible. | |
