I think this is a little closer to right: He said I'll SELL you in the morning and now the night night night night sails in the morning with his quotas and his bales He called his sister, he called his BROTHER He got SKIPED father, he scorned his mother He was what the poor, got a mean mean mean mean London OH, YOU'RE cold, but the wheat wheat wheat's got got to last This is a really beautiful song, but as with all Frog Eyes songs It's hard to tell what exactly he is saying. |

A could be wrong, but since the first time I heard this song I thought the predominant theme was the relative insignificance of any one person, and thier problems. The line "you were right about the stars each one is a setting sun" I interpreted as meaning that there are billions of stars, each being the center of a solar system, so our sun is just one of the billions. The lines "tall buildings shake voices escape singing sad sad songs" I interpreted as each tall building in any given city has up to a few thousand people inside, who all have thier problems too, hence the "sad sad songs". The lyrics than say "Our love is all we have" as to bring meaning bact to life, after making the point that we are all just insignificant specs in an infinitely huge universe. |
