"She" is cocaine. "that day" are the days when he'd stop using and be in terrible condition. "the place i love" is under a bridge where he would go with mexican gangbangers to shoot up heroin. He know's he's all alone in his drug addiction and no one can help him but himself. He wants to be rid of "her" but can't, and keeps going back to her. |

i'm inclined to agree with hopeful canyon... i think this guy is head over heels stupidly in love with this girl who is a very close friend to him, (hence: Honestly I thought that we could make it all the way, Barefoot on beaches dancing against the gray). However, he wants more, and he finally decided to let it all hang out and tell her, and she didn't respond in kind. She doesn't want more, and now he's left to deal with it. |

the song is about a guy who is friends with a girl, but the girl is into some other guy who keeps breaking her heart. And she is trying to get over him and move on but she can't. Meanwhile her friend see's what going on, and tries to comfort her and help her through the tough time because he cares about her so much. He wants her to be his, but at the moment, all he wants is for her to be ok. He's a good guy and it breaks his heart when the girl is sad, and so he just wants her to be happy. "you wanna retrive your high on the phone/ but when you hang up all I wanna do is help you to..." As long as she's happy with the other guy, the friend is happy, but he'll always be there to help her because he loves her. "not realizing that you're home won't you come home and how can I show you that you're done you're on your knees picking up the pieces from your past but there's nothing more to gather holding on to moments that won't last or would you rather end it all do you wanna? " He's saying that he is her home. He is everything she could want. Her past was heartache, and she can't get over it. But there's nothing left to pick up. She's holding on to something that doesn't matter. So why not stop being sad and start making new memories that will matter, at "home"? it's incredible because everything i just wrote is what i'm going through RIGHT now. And i hate it, because i love the girl so damn much. |
