I'm 100% the lyrics go "and I'm so damn tired of having to live without you" all the lyric sites that i've been to forget the damn, and the and. For shame. I've seen him live too and I agree that he is soo better live! Especially since he has an awesome personality to go along with his amazing voice. I think this is about any relationship where you have to live without the person. That could be a long distance relationship, or a person who doesn't love you back. In my mind it could also be about a person that you aren't living without litterally but you feel separated from them for some reason, even though they are there it seems like they're not? I dunno. I wish Jason Mraz would sing the whole "as I lay me down tonight" bit to me while going to bed! It'd make the awesomest lullaby everrrrrr. |

I heard this song on the Rattle and Hum cd before I ever heard the original. Now for some reason I don't really like the original... When I heard the original for the first time a few months ago I was disapointed because I guess I was expecting it to sound like this version. I don't really know why that is, that I like this better, it might be because I'm more used to Bonos voice, which is strange because I was raised on the Beatles... In any case I'd prefer to listen to this cover than to listen to the original. I agree the opening line is awesome. |

This song always makes me cry (kind of ironic because the song is telling me not to!) for some reason. I think it can be used for inspiration in many ways not just in achieving your goals but to help you get through hard times. I think the lyrics with the whole "young girl don't cry" yadda yadda yadda, give it a very comforting feeling. It's almost like something a parent might sing to a child. Not necessarily a parent but somebody very wise. I once heard a sweet techno dance remix of it in H&M, it's a shame I havn't been able to find it on itunes or anything because dance remixes are fun. |

I've read that they just sat down and wrote this song in one day, didn't involve any planning in it whatsoever. It's a pretty good song for making it up kind of on the spot like that. John said it was a piece of crap, basically. |

I read somewhere that paul was just fiddling around with the song on the piano and "martha my dear" were the first words that came out. And martha was his dogs name. This song is quite fun to play the intro to on the piano, and even better, people think its hard when its actually not, so you can impress them easily :) |

sounds almost exactly like part of the song Everyday People by Sly & The Family Stone. At least to me it does. |

I think it's about somebody who is in love with their friend who does not love them back or even appreciate them as a friend (all people should appreciate their friends, I mean really...). They have to watch their friend be in love with another person who is not interested in them. They are hurt because they want the friend to have those feelings for them and they know their friend would rather be with the other person than even hang out with them. They are also hurt at the same time because they have to be around their depressed friend. They are convinced that they could make their friend happy if he or she would only let them. |
