YES! Thank you, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I thought so as soon as I read "I was blessed with a birth and a death." I adore both of them. |

I feel like this song is about a girl who's been away at college and is taking a trip home to visit her family for the first time since she's left. She has changed a lot since she's been gone and has finally become her true self, but her family won't accept her that way. She has to put on a show and pretend to be something she's not. I can relate to this a lot. |

In answer to meganator's question, I believe its Priscilla Ahn. I saw Joshua Radin live a while back and she was the one accompanying him on all the songs from this album. She also sings solo, you can check her out on myspace. She's very good! |

I read somewhere that the two minute bit at the beginning was supposed to symbolize the process of a song being constructed. It starts out sounding not much like anything, almost like someone who doesn't know how to play is just messing around. Then it starts to craft itself. But you're right, it is kinda annoying and I skip it too! haha. Love the rest of it though. I can hardly listen to it without being moved to tears. |

I haven't actually heard this song, but the lyrics remind me of going home to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's a peaceful escape from everything. |

Yes, she is. The song is about the breast cancer fight in general, and how you need to keep on running. Beating it and sharing your story with other women will help with early detection, etc. That's the reason for:
I run for your mother, your sister, your wife
I run for you and me, my friend |

I disagree.. it sounds more like a song about sexual violation/abuse! Like the part about the teachers, and how she has to stop there because it gets worse. |

I agree. I rather like that part. Her voice sounds really cute, especially at that part, and the part about the TVs and the radios. Its a very good commentary. |

This is such a great song. It also seems like a shout out to all the people who don't really define their sexual preference. You can be attracted to anyone and not have to define yourself as bi or straight. I've only dated men but I'm open to women, yet I don't call myself bisexual. A friend once told me, "We aren't heterosexual or homosexual. We're just sexual." Thought this song summed that up nicely. |
