this song is set over a few years, i think. it's about a guy who was totally intimidated by a girl he met, then got her, then started acting like an idiot almost immediately because he's way too insecure to handle it. they're in a long distance relationship. clearly, he cheats, expecting she already has. he's bitter that the relationship ends, even though it's really his fault. the lesson: this shit happens to all of us, oh well. |

wait, i just pasted the wrong post! it's not about a hooker, it's just about two people who have no business hooking up doing it anyway, which again, everyone who lives/works in vegas has seen 1,000 or more times. the "empty" part still fits--screwing someone in las vegas because you're lonely is not much of a solution to any of life's problems... |

this song is about a guy who's about to hire a hooker in vegas, seemingly for the first time, all the while overthinking everything involved with what he's about to do. he notices everyone in the casino, and in his mind they're pretending not to notice him even though they know what he's there for. the reality, of course, is that they've seen this transaction a thousand or more times, which makes it even more mundane. in the end, he's just another horny dude looking to dust off a few hundred on the Strip, fulfilling one of any number of dreams people visit Las Vegas to try to fulfill. the fact that the last word of the song is "empty" tells you exactly how the encounter went for him. this song is Vegas to a T--look, spend, touch, taste--but don't feel anything while you do it. that's it. the usual dark, clever sexuality from an unbelievably amazing band. |

this is a song about an older gay man explaining to a younger gay man that everything he has gone through before coming out and finding himself with someone new (and older) is pretty common. the message, however, is more common: you have to embrace who you are and leave old judgments behind, because although we've all been put through some wringer or another, we just don't have that much time to be happy. |

this song is about losing your mind. slowly. methodically. almost on purpose, but not quite. at least not at first. then you let go. the end of this song is how it feels when you get there. |

| the song isn't exactly about an episode of suicide. it's about the slow death every addict faces if they don't kick. he's not talking about anyone specific, he's talking about every addict that's sucked down that dark hole, most likely never to return, all the while thinking, "this isn't me, this isn't my life." | |

this is a song about the mistakes young people make (impulsiveness, drinking, relationships) and the lonliness they often feel as a result of their mistakes. it's about taking things for granted, about how short term plans that seem like the answer to all our problems often just cause us to end up feeling stupid and cause further setbacks. but since nobody ever listens, almost everybody does some really dumb, regrettable stuff between the ages of 18-25 that causes a lot of damage in their lives. people get hurt, they lose relationships, etc. this song is an ode to that. |

this one's easy. it's about exes who can't let go of another. someone else already hit the nail on the head--the singer is liquored up after a night out, and goes to her place. he's pathetically trying to get laid and she's not at all pleased about it. i relate. in college i had this ex that would ask me to come over all the time late at night when i'd roll home all fired up after a night of ranting and raving with my dipship friends. that was 10 years ago. nowadays, i too am a dixie cup drinker. |
